At least the Santa Barbara Mauser actions used to come out of Spain. I don't know if they were ever incorporated into anything but Parker Hale rifles, though??

I know there ar some made, but not sure because they are not sold in the gunshops I visit.

It's pretty much a CZ, Blaser, Remington, Sako, Sabatti, Sauer, Steyr world.

Some years ago I handled a Spanish express rifle in 9,3x74R, but all I remember is that it was made in Eibar.
Don’t know if bolt rifles are being manufactured.

Check with our member Daniel Moratel. He lives there and builds rifles for his own amusement. I'm sure that he knows of some Eibar gunsmiths who also make rifles. However, I suspect that they are all custom jobs and that there is currently no production of Spanish Mausers in any quantity.

Well, there are custom gunsmiths building rifle on mauser actions etc. Naturally there are double rifles made in Basque Spain, same companies who turn out high quality shotguns also of makes very nice doubles.

Terry Wielands book Spanish Best will give some guidance, I am confident AR's Spanish member can give you some help.

Johan:

Actually there are not any manufacturer of bolt rifles in Spain. There are some limited quantitiies of Santa Barbara mauser barrelled actions and rifles you can find in Armeria Torres, of Zaragoza. (http://www.torres-spain.com). They are stocks of the old line of rifles (and just now closed) that this enterprise manufactured 10 years ago. The rifles are very though, altough cheap and reliable. With some custom touches they can be converted in a nice gun. recently I have adquired one barrelled action in 7x57. I shall transform it in a nice rifle next year. There are some customs gunsmiths (e.g. José Viaji in Madrid). They make custom rifles based on zastava or johannsen barrelled actions.

In the basque area some factories make double rifles (Arrieta, Víctor Sarasqueta, Diego Godoy, among others). Actually (not thirty years ago) they are reliable, very beautiful and their price is reasonable.

If yopu want some information more, contact with me.
