A question to the forum: i�ve got 7 Gams so far. I am tired of carrying 7+ kg rifles up the mountains. So please your suggestions:

A single shot rifle? I hate Blasers with plastic trigger parts.. does the K 95 have plastic parts?

How about Merkel ( J�gerb�chse?? System Jung?? ), how accurate are Italian single shots? Sabatti?

A bolt will be heavier, right?

What about caliber? I used 06 and 6.5x68. I�ve read the latter is not compatibel with heavier bullets, anyway brass is expensive. 6.5x55 and 6.5x57(R) and 260 Rem don�t shoot flat enough? How abot 6.5x65R? Can I make brass in an emergency from 7x65R brass? How long is the throat? Fit for 10 g bullets it would be very long, so accuracy would be lesser...

.243 is illegal in Germany, 7 mm is very close to my 30-06, so I would favour 6.5 mm.

Blaser K95 6.5x57R. 100gr at 3,250fps and 120gr at 2,950fps, all at 0.5moa or better. All up weight with x42mm scope less than 3.3kg.

Only plastic part is trigger guard which is not easily recognisable as such. It is possible to upgrade to an engraved metal one.

I agree with 1894. Few days ago, I have got in my hands the very same rifle (K95, 6.5x57R). I have been impressed! Very light and beautiful. I cannot say anything about accuracy, but I heard only good things about K95 rifles - Lorenzo

Thanks, I already contacted Blaser. The plastic part in the triggers works is what worries me, I asked them about that.

How about the caliber: 6.5x65R? Flatter shooting than 6.5x57 for sure. A new calber, so I would collect any shell I shoot, order a custom die by Lee ( with spent shells as a gauge ), along with Factory crimp die and case lenght gauge.

Is it possible, to use 7x65R cases? These I can get cheaper, and for a longer time if for some reason 6.5x65R is dropped.

I would use Spitzer bullets of 125 to 140 grs, Nosler part, Horn Interlock ( Interbond ) as seconds.

Already have a zeiss 6x42, very light scope. Do I need to say something about the optics?

I wonder which mount will be better Blasers own or aftermarket from steel?

I have a Blaser K-95 Stutzen in 308. It is one of the most accurate hunting rifles I have ever fired. Seven different factory loads have grouped under 1 inch for 3 shots. I used the Blaser European twin lever mount. Even when taken on/off after every shot the groups are still under 1".
I mounted a 1" Ziess 3x9 in keeping with the light and slim qualities of this rifle.

IMHO the Zeiss 6x42 despite having superlative optics has a reticle that is too thick for mountain hunting. I had one for woodland stalking - it is so thick it is not that easy to zero and will I think allmost completely obscure the vital area of a chammy at 300m.

The S&B is pretty much the same. For a fine reticle 6x42 you need a Swaro #4 (0.9cm at 100m) or a leupold.

Montero who posts on here had a 6.5x65RWS but found it more powerful than needed
