Hmm, Lorenzo you did not get a bunch of hits on this one. Maybe somebody else will chime in if I stick my neck out. My $.02 is: "I don't know, but I doubt it". If the flat nose would cause a round to jam, a spitzer would be well and truely whacked during chambering in your rifle. Does that happen??
Btw, I'm not sure the Oryx would be the very best choice for wild boar. They have the advantage of sticking together well, but they do expand to pretty wide diameters. In particular at close range at .300 Win Mag speeds. It does help a bit you are looking for a 200 grs. Do you have any alternatives - a Swift A-Frame maybe? Anyway, I'm sure the Oryx will work fine, this is probably just a "campfire type discussion" - mike

Dear Mho, new 300 WM BAR rifles, with their short barrel (52 cm) and their gas operating system give quite low velocities, tipically 840/860 m/s (V/0) with 180 grains bullets, so excessive speed is not a problem. I prefer Round noses or flat points, since I am sure that they stop boars better then spitzers; the BC is not important, since my shots are usually within 80/100 m. My only doubt is about feeding/jamming problems...
Yeah, I'm kind of partial to round and flat nosed bullets myself. Don't know whether it is true or not, but they always seemed to work well for me. So I can certainly second that idea.
I did not know that BARs produced lower muzzle velocities than other rifles. Live and learn, indeed. Is this because of the gas operating system? - mike

I read somewhere that the gas operating system causes 8-10% of velocity loss...and the short barrel does not help. Last season I used 220 g. RN and I could achieve only 760 m/s (V/0) even if it was not a hot load. But again, my question is if anyone use Oryx bullets in BAR rifles; I sent 2 mails to Norma but I had no reply - Lorenzo
Finally, I have received a mail from Norma today; they did some tests and they say that Oryx bullets shouldn't cause feeding problems in BAR rifles. Anyway they suggest me to make some tests myself....I'm more confident now. Lorenzo
