Mountain Hunting Boots , how to walk in?

Hey folks,
as you may know im starting my chamois hunting trip in circa 1,5 week.
I thought of taking my hunting boots which i ve bought one year ago (but never have used them up to this point) but i noticed that they are to small ;( . So i had to buy me a new pair and now i like to ask u if there is a "best way" to walk them in, so they wont hurt my feets when im in the mountains
The shoe is a Meindl Ortler for Categorie B/C and the shoe has a leather lining and NO goretex membrane.
Heared of something like walk them in with a wet pair of socks and then wear the shoes for a day and then put them on a " Schuhspanner".
Up to now i only have wore them for some short walks in the city and have to say, that they seem to fit my feet.

Second question is, which socks are the best to take?
Have heared that in shoes without goretex its best to take a pair of wool socks and better not to take "function socks" with a fibre mix of different high tech materials.
To make it short, which socks are recommended and how can i walk in my new shoes?

Thanks in advance
Konstantin

Wet the boots thoroughly. Put on heavy socks and wear and walk them dry.

I think you put your left foot out - balance yourself - then do the same with your right - then repeat as many times as necessary.

I definatly agree with the above. The best method is to fill the boots up with warm water, so it penetrates the leather from within. Go on a long walk, and preferably keep them on until dry. I know this can be impractical, but at least wear them until you go to bed (after having them on since early morning). This method has worked for me with many, many boots both in the army and as a civilian. It can be a good idea to change to dry socks a few times during the day, as long as the leather is wet.

PS. Use wool socks! One thin pair under a thicker pair is a good idea.
