Roe Deer in Poland

I just returned from a hunt in Poland with Adrian Skok of Global Sporting Safaris and all I can say is wow! I had no idea how many free-range hunting opportunities existed in Poland, the quality of the game and how reasonable it was to hunt there. We did a five-day roe deer hunt in the Poznan region and each took four bucks. This is typically a one on one hunt but we elected to do it two on one and it worked out really well. The accommodations were first class and the meals were incredible. Everything worked out exactly as promised.

All of the hunting was classic spot and stalk and with the crops being so tall right now, it was extremely challenging. Once the roe deer slipped into the tall cover there was no way to find them again. We saw dozens of bucks each day as well as some great mouflon and loads of fallow and red deer. We did see a few wild boar as well but we had no opportunity to take one. Most of the serious boar hunting is done over bait.

I will definitely be going back to Poland to hunt red stag and mouflon in the near future. I'd rate hunting in Poland as one of the best values in international hunting today. The package price including airport pick up, lodging, meals and one roe buck was $1,600. Each additional buck was $500.

enlighten us on the gun you folks were using?!
Is that the new Browning Maral? What caliber?
Did you rent, and if so, is it possible to get your own guns over there or too much red-tape?

Yes it was a Browning BAR but it had a straight pull bolt like a Blaser. It was the first time I'd ever seen one. It was in 30-06 and had a 3-12 Zeiss Victory on top. We also used a Bruno 6.5x57 for a couple of the deer. It didn't sound like taking guns over was a huge hassle but this trip kind of came together at last minute so we elected to rent theirs.
