Bog, If I remember correctly this is an imported whitetail call, that is being labeled as a Fallow grunter. We tend to get results with a length of inch and a half drain pipe. On the flip side though I have not tried it personally and for the price it might be worth having a go. Rgds, FB

Interesting, I was curious as you don't really hear much about calling fallow deer while whistling sika deer is a pretty common tactic...

Didn't work for me - didn't have the volume or tone. I think it will require something bigger to work. It's very difficult to imitate. I've even tried the voice box of the real thing to no avail!

1894, did you have any continued success with the electronic call you had tested a while back?

Nope - came to the conclusion my early success was just fluke. Also felt wrong dragging another electronic gizmo after deer. I reckon the best ruse is actualy antlers in a bag.

I've called a buck or two into me using my voice but as good bucks are reluctant to leave their territories you had to start off pretty close and it's really most effective in getting a buck to step out of heavy cover rather than calling one in over any distance. I've got the Primo caller and it is clearly a whitetail call misrepresented as a fallow call but seems to make a passable fallow grunt with far less damage to my throat!! I haven't tried it yet but will do as I find it difficult to sustain groaning with my throat without being forced to cough before too long which ruins the whole thing.
