Jon, a Rifle and a small Moose Calf..... Sorry, couldn't resist; I'm positive our Viking bretheren have much better info on the qualifications for a Moose Hunting License in Sweden. Cheers, Number 10

The Swedes will correct me, but I believe it is something like 6.5mm bullet diameter and 139 grs bullet weight. The 6.5x55 with 140 grs bullets ends up just legal. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... Thanks for the replies. I live in Iceland and plan on going moose hunting in Sweden sometime in the future, when I can afford it. I have a .270win rifle that I would use for the hunting. Does a foreigner like myself that has hunting licence in his own country have to take any tests if he goes to Sweden before he can hunt moose? Regards, Jon

Hi, You are not required to take a test of any kind. You must have a license for your weapon and pay a small fee, a "hunting card", this can be payed at the local post-office where you hunt or via the internet, naturvardsverket.se Regarding the calibre of your rifle it is a very suitable one for moose. You can also buy factory ammo for the .270 here.

Really? All the articles that I read on the argument on Italian hunting magazines described the running moose shooting test with a minimum score to obtain. I should use my beloved 9.3x62 . JOHAN WHO IS THAT GIRL, THe LAP DANCER??? DAMN she make me follow all the curves tah she makes bye Stefano Waidmannsheil

By law the only requiremnts are as Johan stated above. But most hunting teams have additional demands, usually the "running moose" test.

You have got some god advice above, there are no legal demands om your shooting skills it´s all up to the leader of the hunting team. In my part of Sweden where I hunt we all have to shoot a qualification test on a 8 station / 2 rounds shooting course. I managed to get a 79 out of 80 and I still fell like a 2:nd rate shoot. However to hunt moose in Sweden and some other northern countries as well one must feel confident in taking shots at running targets, and that requires training. the 270 or the 9,3x62 are both great moose medicine. personalu i will use the 320 grains Woodleighs this year.
