The Remington Titanium is awesome lightweight: Mine weights in .30-06 just 3,1 kg including all gear: rifle, Scope mount, 3-12x50 Swaro scope And shooting great: just 20mm for 5 rounds on full load within 3-5 minutes... here a picture of it with Titanium scope mount: http://www.titanium-gunworks.c...pe-mounts.html[/url]

My "light weight" is a Kimber 84M Montana with synth stock and ss barrel/action in 308 Win. A nice little mini mauser action, naked weight is 5 lbs, 2 oz, (can be had in 257 Roberts, 243 Win, 260 Rem, 7mm-08 and 308 Win). Topped with a light Zeiss Conquest scope she is a dandy to carry. The barrel is a thin profile, but as long as I don´t put any pressure on it, she is accurate enough for woodland and open fields. Arild Iversen.

The today model must be Alaskan Ti, has it become heavier compared to Titanium? Thanks Bjarne

a little bi, because it has a floorplate now - this increases slightly the weight...

My Tikka T3Lite cal 270WSM weighs 2.95 Kg/6.51 lbs. without the scope; it's light enough IMO, a very nice, accurate rifle and it's not expensive.

Just don't expect to be taking the sorts of shots you would normally take with a normal weight rifle without PERFECT technique (and a very good trigger if you can get it) I still remember my near 1000Euro chamois (including guide etc) 250m perfect broadside, perfect rest, not physicaly out of breath - cross hairs on the 6.75lb all up K95 jumped every time my heart beat... 8.5lb for me next time thanks! It is extremely easy to miss (or worse) with a light weight muzzle light rifle.

Agreed - I would lose my weight from under the belt before considering destabilising my rifle! Rgds Ian Just taking my rifle for a walk!........

I would go the other way with the rifle, My Sako weighs around 16lbs with Bipod, Mod and Scope, and I wouldn't swap it. I did think about taking the Mod of for the Hill but never get around to bothering, besides it would only be a pound lighter anyway. This man knows what he is talking about! Light rifles are advantageous for carry, heavy rifles are best for shooting! Take your pick. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... It is commonly known among those who have used them, that light weight rifles are not as steady to shoot with as a heavier rifle. My Rem No7 in 243 Win was not easy to shoot accurate with that short 20" barrel. My Montana in 308 Win is just the same, but it is not used for open ranges over 150 meters anyhow. Other than that I like the light rifle for woodland stalking and if I do my part, the accuracy is more than enough. Arild Iversen.

It depends on how the rifle is balanced. The best rifle I have ever shot is a NULA in 257ROY dont know what it weighted (prob about 6lb with 6x luepie) but man was it good in the hand, when I am ready for another rifle this will be it.I have also shot a rifles inc which was sweet but not as good as the NULA. Balance is the key to light rifles,if you start with a light action and stock, trim down the bolt, have light scope mounts and a little scope then you can have a standard weight barrel which "should" make the rifle barrel heavy, and therefore more controlable (sp)

One thing that will help you shoot a light weight rifle up to its and your full accueacy potential is to shoot using a tight sling. Just be sure you barrel is free floated, and the sling is attached to the stock or changes in sling pressure will change the rifles zero. Even when sighting in or testing loads from the bench use a tight sling when on the bags. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Steve, I have a remmy model 7 in 7mm08. it is a lovely rifle, very small and light shoots well and is nice to carry about.... it is nore fussy with it's ammunition and remember for every inch of barrel you will lose 100 or so fps. Whilst not a problem for me some find the recoil harsh with heavier full on loads. I think they are only available in a short action.

Tikka T3 stanless/sythetic. 5 or 6 pounds and you can carry it around all day, up hill down dale, no worries. They shoot MOA and mine - a 308 , zeroed to be bang on at 200m. If I put the crosshairs behind the shoulder, that's where the shot goes. Can't recommend it highly enough.
