Once upon a time there was a thread here (I think) about seal hunting in Scandinavia somewhere, with pics of a dog retrieving seals in the surf (after being shot). Does anyone know where I might find those pics (or others), please? I have tried unsuccessfully using the search function...

TIA for any help.

I got a video of my dog retrieving a seal, not the seal that I shot but another one that swam by. Its on a WHS tape, but I will try to convert it to a CD .
This on the other hand is a friend going after a seal he shot.

I posted some pictures a few years back of my DD bitch retrieving a seal. Don´t think it was on this list but rather a DD list. I´ll send them to you if you like. By the way, we offer seal hunting...

Great show!

One question.....if you shoot them in the water do they sink before you can retrieve them? I've seen pics of a dog retrieving one so I'm assuming the answer is no.

I can't help you much but I do the Norwegian word for "sunk".

It's "Sunket".

Anytime, Kamo Gari.
As for the seals sinking or not, it differs. You hear stories from old timers who claim they know when to shoot but in my experience it´s hard to predict. Safest bet is to shoot them while on land, lying on the cliffs and rocks of our beaches. The skin is nice for accessories, bags, wallets etc.
