As far as I know, hunting in the national reserves is controlled by quotas and permits which are issued by lottery/auction. I don't know anyone personally who has hunted on their own without an outfitter and I think they have the best access to permits, but it may be possible. I would contact Federación Española de Caza and go from there www.fedecaza.comThere are quite a few local hunting clubs and local reserves which may give you better access, especially for bird and small game hunting.

I was given some indications on the local montarias as described above. They indicated to me that the group would shoot 5 to 12 boar in total generally. I think this would be a great thing to do if you are on the ground anyway and it is a true reflection of the traditional Spanish hunting experience. It just didn't seem worthwhile to me as a dedicated trip to go to the travel expense for a 10% to 15% chance of a shot. however if I happened to find myself in the right place at the right time I would jump at the chance to participate. Dig has done a similar hunt in Italy several times and says that it is good fun but he has yet to see a boar in several trips. However the social aspect of the day is excellent. Rgds, K

I would rather spend 500 to 1000 € and have a 100% chance to see and most likely shoot a stag as well as some boar and hinds.
