Great looking bunch of hogs. What did the tusk measure? (showing from the gum line) What kind of rifle did you use? I would like to read more about the night hunts. Congratilations on a great hunt and thanks for the pictures.

Hog Killer,

Thank you.

The boar with the best tusks I got was the first one: 23.9 cms (9.4 inches).

I used my favourite boar calibre 9.3x62, and the rifle was a Blaser R93 toped with a Zeiss scope (3-12x56 with illuminated reticule).

The hunting took place on the mountains around Karabk (northern Turkey) during the full moon period and was done over baits (corn and apples), on cornfields and also on the fruit trees gardens of the many small farms on the area.
After reaching the area by car, with the guide and a game warden, we spend as much time as necessary (provide there is enough moonlight) to walk to the various baits, cornfields or gardens until we detect a boar. Then we have to get close enough (without being noticed) to make sure we can take a clean shot.
Its a really trilling experience!
