I am considering a new Helia 3-9X42 with 1" tube for a 6,5X55. Other options are Swarovski/Zeiss 3-9. A fixed 6X42 euro scope could be interesting if I get a good deal but it will give up a bit of the flexibility I want from a scope.

Since the Helia is a bit cheaper than other euro scopes I wonder how it compares to the other considering optics, ruggedness etc.?

I am not sure if Khales manufactures the “Helia†series in 1†tubes and with a 3-9x power. I believe the 1†tube series is called “American Hunterâ€.
But either with a 1†or a 30mm tube, Khales is a fine rifle scope, only surpassed by Swarovski and Zeiss IMHO.

Hi!
I have 2 Kahles Helia 3-9x42 CT.
So far I am most pleased with them and would not consider it a bad scope by any way. I could not see any difference in the optical quality between my Kahles scopes and my uncles brand new Swarowski, so in my opinion they are very good. It is a good scope for the money spent in it. I had my scopes ordered with a special reticle (4D) Which allows me to use the .22Hornet out to 200m, and the .375HH out to 350 m or so, and still sight it in on 80-100m.

Sincerely
Daniel

In the 6x42 class you can consider a Schmidt&Bender scope. Even if produce in Hungary, has the same quality of the German production, with an acceptable price.

It´s a good scope, no question about that.
The only difference i´ve noticed so far, compared to my "best" scope, a Zeiss diavari victory 1,5-6x42 is that the reticle on the Zeiss stays black and sharp, no matter what.
If i sight towards the sun (not straight at it...bad idea.) the reticle can get a little glared. Hope you know what i mean.
However, optically it is among the best.
