I will be spending time this fall in Switzerland. Is there any ibex or chamois hunting available to visitors?

Could you recommend an outfit to hunt with?

Much obliged...

There is very little commercial hunting offered in Switzerland. You'd have to get yourself invited to go hunting in a mountain canton for the species you are looking for. One possible exception is the Canton of Valais (German: Vallis), which offers outside sportsmen the option to get on a waiting list for ibex culls - mostly older bucks. It can be tough to get to the top of the list, and the price for a big buck is, well, pretty "Swiss". Mind you, cheap and large ibex buck are oxymorons anywhere in Europe...

But, all is not lost. Austria (or even France) just next door to Switzerland has a healthy commercial hunting industry. And although you'd be driving from one country to the next, that would be shorter than driving through some US states.

has a few links to check. There are really too many options to list even a fraction of them. Tons of hunting available in Europe, so dare venture a bit afield, and you'll take home a bunch of good memories.

I just bought an Alpine Ibex hunt in Switzerland for this year at the GSCO auction. I will be heading over this fall for Ibex and hopefully adding an Alpine chamois along the way.
