Hi Folks
I'm planning a trip to Minsterley next week to give the 375H&H a good airing. I've never been before, I was wondering what the facilities were like. Any good?

It's all looking pretty run down there at the moment, the cafe seems to be permanently closed and the shop is a shadow of its former self. It's friendly enough though, even if unmoderated rifles are discouraged due to neighbour disputes.

Hmm. Maybe not such a good idea. Are there any other ranges in the south where I can shoot my 375?

Hi Richard,

Dependent on your timings I have grounds with no such restrictions. Will be hunting with Clients until Friday - but following that, could come to an arrangement. Wink

I was down at Minsterly a couple of weeks ago..

As said the cafe was closed and there was just one person in the "shop"..It seems now if you want anything beyond the very basics, you have to order it..

That said, the range is still in good condition and there are not many places you can simply turn up and play...

Check the openning times when you intend to visit..I think they are closed half day on Sunday and all day Monday due to noise complaints..

Thanks for the advice guys, and especially you Ian for your kind offer.

I ended up on the new 100 range near Kemble. At 30 quid an hour it will put some off, but the facilities are good and where else can you swing by and work up a big bore load in clinical conditions? He is cleared up to 458 Lott.

Richard, is that Kemble between Tetbury and Cirencester?

Worked near they some time in the last century...

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

If anyone is ever in desperate need of a range and happens to be near the Welsh borders, I have my own 200 yard set-up near my house. I have built a permanent bench - shortly to have a roof installed - that suits normal and leftie shooters and the land is cleared for any full bore calibre (my FEO said I could have field artillery on there if I wanted Cool), so shouldn't be a problem for zeroing DG stuff.

Happy to make it available if anyone needs it because they don't have anywhere to test loads, mess about ot zero their rifle - the landowner is a friend and is amazingly tolerant. It helps that the range is at the bottom of a steep valley so noise doesn't really travel far.

It was quite sad toread about the apparent demise of Minsterley ranges. I was a member there for many years when I lived in the UK from around '85 onwards. Does anyone remember Mitch? What a character he was. Then Ryan took over with big plans for expansion that didn't work out. He did improve the shop hugely though, at least that was the case the last time I was there in 2004.

It's a shame that noise is now an issue there, especially as its in the middle of nowhere. Bloody whinging doogooders.
