Do 260 rem classed as class 1 (allowed for hunting big game) or it belongs to class 2 only for lesser games?

Sj�lv f�redrar jag 6.5x55 f�re 260Remington. En klassiker som det �r l�tt att f� tag i ammunition till. Snyggare dessutom.

6.5x55 is one of the best allround calibers when hunting on this side of earth!

thanks i found it and surprised that this caliber belongs to class one ,when there are many voices against using the old honorable 6,5x55 on big games like moose.

Well loaded with 140grains bullets the 260Rem probably not make class 1. But with 154grains bullets it will not be any problem I think.

One thing that is a little bit strange is that 6.5x65R is class 2 according to Naturv�rdsverkets list. But it has powder space like a 6.5-06. With handloading it will outperform 6.5x55 by far.

I have a friend who has a 6,5X68 that is klass 1. He loaded some ammo with 140 grain and test shoot it, No problem.

I reality the 260 rem is a class 2. The factory ammo with 140 grain bullet si soft adn doesn't make it. The 6,5X68 is really a different cartridge

To My Fellow Scandanavian Hunting Brethern;

It is good to get to see that my hunting brothers in Scandanavia still love the 6.5 bore.

I became a convert to the 6.5 bore about 5 yrs ago. In the US, many people look at it like it is for smaller game like varmints. However after taking game with them at 300 and 400 yds, and see how fast the animal expired, you folks have had a well kept secret for many years.

I own 3 260 Remingtons, two 6.5 x55s, one a factory Ruger and the other a rebarreled Winchester featherweight with a 26 inch barrel, and a 6.5 x 57. I also own a 1920s vintage 29inch barreled Mauser that is a real testiment to a quality rifle.

I find that handloading using RL15 powder that is Swedish made but distributed in the US under a name that is probably unfamiliar in Scandanavia, a 6.5 x55 or 6.5 x 57 gives me as much velocity as one can get out of most 264 Win Mags, the equal to your 6.5 x 68s etc.

140 grain bullets are the most largest bullets commonly available, although the the 6.5 x55 is seen with 160grainers.

As a person who has both Norwegian and Swedish ancestorage, I would enjoy hearing from some of the people in Scandanavia, just to compare what we do, trends etc.

I reside on the West Coast of the US in Oregon, which is straight north of California.

you can never go wrong with a 6,5 especially when using swedish made rifles with good accuracy. it would do for every thing from dove to moose when proper ammo is used.in a test run by a swedish gunwriter for a few years ago indeed 6,5x55 with solid 156 gr outpreformed a 375h&h and 300 gr solid in penetration test!!!.

You mentioned R15 is made in Sweden ! is it made by Norma In that case Which kind of norma powder is coresponding to it?n202 or n203B or N204?. it is a puzzle which i have heard before.when asking gunshops they don't know about it ata all!!
