It will be a breeze to get into the city from the airport - just hop on the Metro. As a matter of fact, depending on your time of travel, it may well be faster going on the Metro than by car! Which airport are you arriving at/departing from? Charles De'Gaulle (presumably)??

Make sure your luggage is checked through so you don't have to worry about bringing it (and your rifles) through customs.

As for things to see, where does one start and where does one stop?? You could easily spend a week or more in Paris and not be bored. Here are a couple of links for your wife to start deciding where you would like to go

There are surely about a zillion more options, but this is a good start. Have a nice trip, and much Weidmansheil for your African trip.

Start your hunting in Paris: Plenty of Al QUAIDAI's on the streets! Be sure you got enough ammo

Wow...this Forum never ceases to amaze me!

I spent the entire day getting ready for our Namibia hunt by sighting in and shooting my .300 Jarrett and .375 H&H at 100 - 400 yards on Kenny's 1,000 yard range.

I just got home and read all your great suggestions for our Paris layover! We really appreciate all your responses. Checking into an airport hotel and taking the Metro into the city sounds like the way to go.

I'll ask Holly to check out the links and prioritize her list of "must see" attractions. She has never been in France and is really looking forward to seeing some of the famous Paris landmarks. I hope we are lucky with the weather and catch a nice day to walk around.

I spent a week or so seeing the sights, drinking the wine and chasing the girls (actually caught several! Ooh-La-La!) in Paris as a college freshman some 30+ years ago during a summertime, backpack/Eurail Pass, tour of the Continent. I'm sure Paris will look a little different to me this time seen through older, wiser (and more sober) eyes.

Try and see their military museum - the name escapes me but the sight of all those Napoleonic regimental colours hanging, sends (to the English at least) a shiver down your spine.

Have a drink with Edmond, and let him show you around if he will. Best option IMHO.

Go for a walk at "place Pigalle" and "Montmartre" at night.
most of the time "action guaranteed" if you like to walk alone!
Me and my wife had to run like hell to escape a gang of thieves!

Thanks Dirk...I've always wanted a DUVEL..I think!?

Unfortunately, no time on this trip for the detour to Belgium, but maybe one day!

As for the Place Pigalle midnight stroll, I think I'll wait and do my dangerous game hunting in Namibia, but thanks anyway!
