Well worth the investment, I have 4 sauers and they all shoot superbly. Plus the fact they come in left hand is a big bonus!! Ed

Quote: Yup im kinda scared about that too but it will start as a 3006 and then an extra barrel in 9,3*62mm! I did go to an hunting store and took a closer look on them and made up my mind and im gonna order one, just have to sell my Tikka first! The wierd bolt handle is not that much issue for me and it is kinda nice to work the bolt on them! Best regards Ben.

Most people that get them swear by the Sauers - supposedly very well built and very accurate right out of the box. In Central Europe, the Sauer is considered a higher class product than the Sako - and costs a good deal more. The take-down feature is a strong plus in my mind. I have never been crazy about the safeties - I don't like that they are different to the safeties on my other rifles. But if you use the rifle enough, I doubt that should be a problem, they are supposedly very quiet. I also am not crazy about set triggers, and here in Central Europe that is how the Sauers come, like it or not. But then again, that is also a very personal opinion. My gunsmith swears by them, we asked for his recommendation for a LH bolt action, and he suggested the Sauer. - mike

I had the chance to handle a sauer 202 for the first time on a hunting trip in Sweden last month and was really impressed with these rifles, seems to be top quality rifles but somehow ive newer seen them or heard much about em here in Iceland(just sako fans here) but how do they compare to say sako 75? The price of the standard sauer 202 is about the same as a standard sako 75 here but the reason im interested in these rifles is that i can get a left handed rifle in a pretty short time! One thing i dont care about sauer is the strange bolt handle but thats nothing important! So how do you hunters feel about them? Thanks in advance! Regards Ben Iceland.

I have had a Sauer 202 Classic Extreme in 243 for about 18 months. This particular model has a traditional round bolt handle and is the cheapest in the range. The Ilafon finish to the metalwork is proving to be very hardwearing with no sign of wear yet and I have been crawling around flint strewn fields quite often. The synthetic stock is sturdy and most importantly does not flex with a bipod fitted. It is light to carry and extremely accurate, particularly with handloads. My current loads for Roe deer use a Sierra 85 Gr HPBT in Lapua cases driven by 43 Grs IMR 4350 and Fed 210M primers. Another is the Hornady 95 Gr SST and 42 Grs RL19. Both loads print around the half inch easily when I do my part. Like yourself I also like Sako rifles - my other rifle is an M591 in 7mm - 08 which I have had some 6 years or so and is still going strong. Regards Karl

Thanks for your reply Karl, sounds like a good rifles you got there! I have a sako L579 Forester varmint tipe, cal.243 win that seems to love the sierra 85gr hpbt too! I dont have my load data now but i use vitavhuori N160 povder, lapua cases and Federal 210M primers! I have had great result with the n160 powder, with almost any bullet from 70-100 grains! If you want i can send you some data when i get home? But to the sauers, i have hunted the internet for info about them for a few hours now and i have not seen anything bad or close to that about them and everione seem to love them! plus i really like the option to buy an extra barrel in other cals and change without any ajustment!
