Glad to have you onboard Peter.
Where in Denmark do you live?
I travel to Fredrikshavn once in a while.
Have been thinkin about trying for Fallow in hegn, as there are some offerings in the North Jylland area.

hi all
thanks for the welcome

arild. i live 45 min south of copenhagen, regarding the fenced hunts in denmark remember that most of the proberties are small usually in the 80-100 hektars wich means that it is a put and take feeling at best, we have laws against release and shoot here in denmark, that are pretty strict, wich is good IMO. but if you want a fallow look to sweden or UK you might give a littel more but the hunt is a real hunt.
the fallow deer roam freely in denmark but the places where they do is real pricy to get into and they dont do day hunts as far as i know.

this one took me almost 60 days of real hunting but what a joy when i finally got him, the win is a 375 win a very good caliber for brush hunting IMO

regards peter

Really nice buck Peter thumb

Yes I´m aware that the fallow hunt they offer are in hegn, but didn´t know that the areas are as small as you describe.
A "put and take" dosn´t sound to tempting.
Guess I let the whole idee just die silently then...

thanks all

yes im very proud of that buck, really had to work for him.
arild dont give up on the idea it is just that in denmark land is really pricy and that makes every aspect of the hunt either expensive or put and take like. south of sweden has more room and better prices on one day hunts. also as far as i understand england has some very good offers but i know that there are people here that knows more about it.
boghossian yes the gene pool is good in that area it is just rare that they get to grow to that size, most likely shot off before.

Can you tell us a bit more about hunting in Denmark. Is it usually run by private syndicates or local hunt clubs?

i can give you my 2 cents worth, then any danish hunters can correct my if they want.
around my place almost all hunting is private syndicates renting land from the estate owners. in my area the prices are from 100 euro to 150 euro pr. hektar pr year.
the syndicate mostly do 8-10 shoots during the season with the hunting for roe, fallow, red stag being for a few members that pay for that as well. That will be either driven shoots or stalking.
the local hunt clubs get there hunting grounds from the local countys but the land is public acces so the pobulation of animals is according to that.. you get what you pay for.....
some of the estates have day hunts or day stalks but they have long waiting lines or are fully booked with there regular costumers.
then you have your small land owners like me who either hunt themselfs or rent the hunt out to someone. again prices are high if it is good and sometimes even if it is no good.

where i live on the southeren part of seeland you got some of the best hunting in denmark due to the large number of estates, so phesants, ducks and roedeer are everywhere in large numbers and the shoots can be compared to the good shoots in england. the good gamekeepers are considered regal and cherrished by the syndicates and land owners.
i got 16.5 hektars and it is not unkommen that i got between 75-100 birds on my land in the start of the season. clap
our season started yesterday, with ducks started a month ago and partrigde 14 days ago
i hope this helps a bit if not ask more q.

i will try again, hopefully with more info instead of prices.

in denmark the wildfowl hunting are FREE(got your attention now) at the salt water from boats except in the EC santurys.

on land we got some of the nicest roe deer hunting in europe, if not in trophy size then in numbers, i think last year 150.000,- was the number of roedeer hunted sucessfully.
we got
Redstag in some areas that can compete with all other european nations
Fallow deer is widespread in most of denmark and some of the stags actually get to be old and BIG.
Sika in some areas but not as much as you could hope
Roe Buck we get to hunt from 16 may to 15 july, this got a special place in my heart, stalking in a summer forest is very nice.
Boar we dont have them since denmark is pig producing nation number one so the rule is if they cross the border they get shot. we do have some in a reserve in jutland.

phesant is all over the place at seeland due to the many large estates there, that release them every year, we got a law about release though that says Aug. at the latest then you have to feed them in or they join your neighbur.
Partrigde is up and down at my place they are good at my neighbur they aint there. love to hunt then with pointers though.
and a few pics of roe deer from summer hunting.
