It's that time of year again when we think of the forthcoming roe buck season and get the chance to make many of our European friends jealous. Around this time of year I make resolutions. This year I'm going to stay in the woods until the leaf makes life difficult and then hit the oilseed rape before it gets too high. Have a good season.

Good luck to you all on the 1st. What with it falling on a saturday, us less fortunate souls (with no roe stalking) will be looking forward to the stories and pictures of opening day/weekend exploits!! FB

This year I had the chance to be out for bucks on the 1st. Having had the good luck to get the shooting on a farm that has a small Roe holding wood, I had the bad luck to break a rib or two . Never mind I shall be there just as soon as I can, John

Hi Scirroco, what are the details on the syndicate and how do you work it for safty etc with more than one gun out? Back on Subject, I actually managed to look at a Roe -Buck throught the scope on saturday morning. I went out with my freind Rick to a peice of forestry he stalks after I dropped a couple of hints that it was "The First..." Walking down a ride we had bumped a pair of munties in the undergrowth. At some point I glassed the opposide bank and about 50yds away was a grey Roe Buck browsing behind a tree. He had his back to us and was obscured by a sapling, soI made my way over to a row of new planted trees. off the top of the stake I could make out the head and neck of a yearling buck but Rick told ne not to shoot it. I waited then I saw another Rump moving in the thick cover. It turned out that there were 5 Roe there, but Rick and I were looking at different bucks. He was looking at a really good buck that he didn't want shot and I was looking at the yearling. We followed them and caught up with the group twice more but both times they saw us first. Either way it was a bonus to get out and see some roe on a day when I didn't think It was possible. Rgds, FB FB

Just get yourself sorted and we will meet, stalk for the morning, grab a breakfast and enjoy MK for a few hours prior to an evening bash. Just let me know as soon as you can confirm. Sounds good to me. Suits better than the sunday which is the last day of the Fallow season as well, so I can go out and not shoot one in the evening... Feel free to come and get involved if you like. Rgds,
