I have distant family in northeast Georgian Republic, close to mountains (Chesho, Omalo). What game can be hunted there and what are regulations in bringing your own rifle and ammo.

I tried to go there to hunt some year ago, but it took a lot of efforts with a little return. I need some time to find the mail and the translations.

From all I gathered, there is little hunting in terms of medium/big game.Tur can be hunted but I read/heard that it can be quite expensive and tedious.I can be wrong.

Taking your rifle and ammo should not be a problem from what I read.There are a few gunshops in Tbilisi that seem to stock decent range of guns.

I know that I am not being very informative here.Sorry.

even if there is an outfitter offering you an unbelievable hunt

Have you thought about your own safety ?

If somebody in your party is hurt if there the infrastructure that you can trust for medical care ?

OK you have your precious trophy .........

Will your outfitter be experience enough to handle it, preserve it untill it gets to the taxidermist of your choice ?

Is there a good enough taxidermist up to your standard locally ?

Is there an export arrangement for your precious trophy ?

I think it will be prudent to consider the above before you go to Georgia my friend

I think that all these remarks can be carried to all countries and regions: Tajikistan, Pakistan, Iran, Kamchatka, Yakutia, Altai, Kirghizia, Mongolia, Сaucasus. It concerns and many countries of Africa...

If not to risk - you will not receive good hunting.

I agree if no risk then hunting will be boring

What I was really trying to say and did not express myself clearly is that the outfitter has got to privide you with the infrastructure rather than just offering the cheapest price.
