I have to reload some ammos for a friend. I've heard that the rifle gives better accuracy with lighter bullets; my idea is to use 100 g Nosler BT and Vith.560. Any advice is welcome. - Lorenzo

Hey wildboar, although i don´t have any experiences with a 6,5*68S i would think that the Nosler BT ist toooo soft (venice destruction) for this light magnum. Guess my first choice would be a Nolser PT, but depends on the kind of game your friend like to shoot with it and how far the shooting distances will be ,in average. If he uses it on "short" distances up to 100-120 meters i would go with the PT, if the shooting distance is over 180-200m i would take the BT. Just my 2 Pence. But i can be wrong..as i said before i don´t have any "praxis experiences". Anyhow, of what i heared about the cartridge, a good one. If i remeber right , a friend of mine uses the 6,5*68S, and due to the situation he shot a 90KG wild boar with the Nolser BT. Instant kill...but gues if u like to use it on "heavy game" i would go for the PT. cheers Konstantin My old User Name konst has been lost , on 20/5/02, after a ???????

Hi There, Wildboar -- The CIP standardized twist for the 6.5X68 is 1:11 inches, which yields an optimal bullet weight of ~120 grains at 6.5X68 velocities. It may be easier to get best accuracy with bullets around that weight. I haven't done too much work with the 6.5X68 yet, but have found that starting loads with H4831SC and a Speer 120 grain are significantly better that Hirtenberger 140 grain Nosler factory loads in my Mannlicher Schoenauer. I'm not sure who posted it, but here is some interesting data for you: http://www.accuratereloading.com/65rws.html Hope this helps! Cheers, Larry

Lorenzo I have 6.5x68 built on a 98 action by Voere. I have found the 125 gr partion and the 129 gr Hornady both to be very good. Close up the Nosler holds together better. In my rifle the Hornady's grouped better and are devastating on deer and antelope at 200 + yds. best powder was IMR 7828 and RWS cases.

Konst#1, you are probably right when you say that the 100 BT are too soft, but I want to use light bullets to keep the velocity as high as possible; anyway the choice of 6.5 bullets is quite reduced - Lorenzo

Hey Lorenzo, if u like to get high velocity, you may like to take a look on th eimpala side, it´s available in english to...here is the link: http://www.impalabullets.co.za/ the bullet is distributed in europe too. The distributor is located in austria. Ah okay, try this link and click on english... http://www.impalabullets.at/ or -if u can read german - here is a link of a web page of Lutze Möller. Don´t konw if u already heared of him. He offers his copper solids under th ename of KJG. Nearly the same as Gerard Schultz Bullet from RSA. About the impala i heared goo dthings. Have shot last year a Marmot with a 5,6*52R at 100meters and the damage was realy small. A friend of min euses the impalas in his .243Win and is more than just satisfied,..but maybe a "Question of belive" cheers Konstantin My old User Name konst has been lost , on 20/5/02, after a ???????

And because i had some time, here is a loading chart for the 6,5*68S http://home.snafu.de/l.moeller/6,5x68WW.html (scroll down on the web side) with the pressure and velocity levels. As u see...1200m/s...guess it´s fast enough, hmm? Cheers Konst My old User Name konst has been lost , on 20/5/02, after a ???????
