Looking for opinions/experiences with this bullet. I used it earlier in the season on a whitetail and was impressed. The deer was quartering to me, shot was about 150 yards. The 155 mega from my 6.5x55 hit just behind the shoulder, destroyed the ribs and lungs. It did not exit but it tore up the opposite tenderloin. I'm guessing it was probably lodged somewhere in the opposite rear ham but it was dark and I didn't want to dig. The entrance hole was about 1.5" so it opened fast.
I know it's not a sexy bullet with a high BC but it seems to be a hammer on game...expanding quickly yet holding together.
I figured I'd ask the the experts across the pond about this bullet.

I have used it on moose, deer and roedeer. It always perform well. The best non premium bullet in the 6,5. About 60% retained weight. Uses it in my 12g/6,5*55 BRNO.
My brother use it exklusive in his .308w(185gr) for the same game. (I have tryed it in my .308w to but reloading and tinkering is a hobby.)

I have a 9.3x62 as well. I have some 285 Megas coming to me this week.

I load up 286 Lapua Mega in 9,3x62 for drive hunting boar. They work very well and I've always experienced good expansion + full penetration, whatever the shooting angle. On Roedeer, expansion is limited, suggesting a (medium) hard bullet.
Accuracy is great and my Blaser R93 groups 5 of them in .75 MOA (4x scope)
André DRSS ---------
3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact. 5 shots are a group.

A friend of mine loves them for anything from roe fawns to boar in 180 grain for his 30/06, I load them for him with RL19. Her says that they offer an excelent compromise between penetration and killing power, a premium bullet qualities at (at least here) an affordable price.

I love it so much I had my Walther barrel for my 6.5X55 designed for the Mega 155grain bullet. I can shot it 1.5 inches at 305 yards...penetration is great, kill is great.
