Does anyone have any details in terms of regs and species? My wife goes every summer and I may get dragged along so I thought I would inquire.

From what I remember rifles are not allowed, so you would be looking at shotgun with solid slugs. Again IIRC you may not be able to use S/A shotguns so you are probably looking at borrowing an o/u

the only hunt I know of for sure in Greece is the Kri Kri Ibex on one of the islands.

Of course the other option if you are in greece is to travel elsewhere in Europe for a couple of days to hunt and just use it as a base. Greece is a big country (by European standards!!) so depending on where you are based you may have a journey in front of you any way.

If you have someone in mind and need some translation or someone who speaks the lingo to ask the right questions for you then feel free to gimme a call. I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

My grandfather had a farm in greece and I spent some summers there. We come from the most beautiful part of greece-in the mountains and in the agricultural part. The area is very little populated and there are hills and mountains of wild country that seperate tiny villages.I would take my grandfathers Beretta shotgun or a nice side by side and hunt almost everyday.I shot snakes, owls eagles, pigs, hoopes migrating from Africa, and all kinds of other birds.Fox and hares required dogs and experienced hunters and where left to the adults.I did participate in these hunts too and they were extraordinary.
The area has now introduced wild boar and they are doing great.A fellow I know showed me a pic of one he shot weighing about 500 pounds.I was invited to go and hunt boar in the winter and was told I could shoot as many as I want on a licence. It is a place where the weather is perfect. It is dry and warm and sunny and does not rain for months.Makuti reminded me of it.
I remember waiting in a blind in the forest in a mountain waiting for all the birds feeding in the fields to come up for shelter early in the evening. Then the shooting would begin as they would rest on the high trees before going up all the way.We would pluck the birds and give them to my grandfather who said he would sell them as doves to the stupid athenians driving on the main road.

I looked that up and that is in northern greece.I never been there. We are from Arcadia in southern greece.
It was nice visiting when I was young and my grandparents were alive.Things also cost very cheap back then.My father did not get along with them(and had reason) so we never went back.

Hop into Bulgaria or Macedonia.
Great boar, stag, roe deer, chamois, mouflon, European grizz.
You are not that far but it"ll cost you

Shootaway,

My parents are also from Arcadia, near megalopoli to be exact. My father as a youth, hunted hare with hounds and related many a story of using his 20bore to fill old flour bags with woodcock (bekhatses).

My father is from Anemodouri, my mum from Marmaria. A small world indeed. My dad, initially was planning on heading to Canada for a new life and new opportunities. But did not think the small "test" set by his then fiance parents was for him, and set of for Australia and the warmer weather. Apparently the area around Arcadia lost about 40% of its resident population in the 50's and 60's through migration.
