Gentleman, My wife and I are heading to London to visit our daughter that lives there. I,ll have about 5 or 6 days of touring and besides the museum of natural history I have no idea what an outdoorsman would like to see. We'll also be visiting La Rochelle France with the daughters boyfriend and his family, so that time should be filled. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Best, Rob

Visit Holland and Holland London Gun Room. Also Beretta has a nice shop there. If you are interested in Navy, visit HMS Belfast. What I always do in London is buying some shirts, suits etc. A lot of good shops at Jermyn street. From cheap to expensive one. I like Charles Tyrwhitt. Not too expensive, good price/quality ratio. On the same street there is also a great shaving shop (with razors, brushes etc.) Have a nice trip Jiri

Rob, Holland's, Purdey and William and Son are all close to each otheR and will take up a morning. The Berretta Gallery is opposite Wiliam Evans and Farlows is round the corner on Pall Mall. Rules is the oldest restaurant in London and specialises in game. It is worth a visit on evening, but I warn you it can get expensive!!! Their game is sourced from their own estate. Depending on the time of year you might be able to arrange some shooting for a day, or a bit of fly fishing, or sea fishing. The terai network can get you to most places. K

There's a Modern Sporting Gun Auction at Bonhams, Knightsbridge on 1st May and 30th July? Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened. Sir Winston Churchill

Thanks for all of the suggestions! They all sound great! My daughter is slightly homesick as she is used to having her horse, the lakes and the Rocky Mountains as her backyard.... Oh and her rifle! she was struggling with ideas that she thought I would like, but since only have been living there for 9 months and having a boyfriend who isn't a sportsman.... She hasn't been exposed or shown what we all enjoy in the UK. So the help is truly appreciated.

A good shaver is always needed unless you are from Duck Dynasty......

Rob, In addition to gun and outdoor related things you really should check out the touristy/historical sites. Just Google London sites and you'll have many choices. Sadie and I have laid over in London 4 times going and coming from Africa and truly enjoyed the city and the UK in general. Do not believe that old adage that the food stinks in London. It does not. Apart from the trips to the gun rooms, the Imperial War Museum is a must! "Early in the morning, at break of day, in all the freshness and dawn of one's strength, to read a book - I call that vicious!"- Friedrich Nietzsche

Thanks guys! Lots of good ideas! I have a great list and will make a plan soon. The museums are something I have always enjoyed wherever I have visited so I'm sure I'll be hitting a few of those. Thanks again!

Richmond Park is a must to visit. When at the Natural history museum, the 2 world largest elephants tusks were on display on the bottom floor. One tusk is over 200lbs in weight.

Yes Malcolm, at the top of my list is to see those tusks!

You could pop along to the A1 shooting ground in North London if you hire a car or if a member here is free to give you a lift. Great clayshooting ground and the owner is very accommodating.
