i"m expecting to pick up my .22 magnum shortly(if the cops ever sort out my FAC), and will be buying a suppressor.
today i looked at a SAK, a jet(from jackson rifles) and the old faithful parker hale type.
i think it"s down to the SAK or the JET.
anyone any experience with either of these on a .22 magnum? any recomendations?
good shooting

i know this should really be in the rimfire section, but shooters on this side of the pond are more likely to be using suppressors(or at least admit to it!)
good shooting

Brass, I have a .22mag and I love it. I have often wondered how much benefit there is in fitting a can to a .22mag? There is practically no muzzle blast anyway, a large proportion of the report must be the supersonic crack.

I have played quite a bit with a .222 with a T4 fitted. It is quieter than a .22mag, but not massively so.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

i"ve got a t8 for the "proper guns", but it"s too bulky and heavy for a rimfire. the SAK is very light, but i"m told the jet works better.
i take your point about effectiveness, but i said the same thing at first about the t8, and am now a reluctant convert.
good shooting

A friend has a T8 on a Tikka 270. It is damned impressive in terms of both recoil reduction, and muzzle blast and flip elimination.

I have just never been able to bring myself around to carrying anything as big as a T8, especially not hanging out there on the end of my barrel. But then I stalk for sport only, and have no cull targets to meet.

Brass Thief
go with the Jet Z,far superior to the Reflex or the SAK.smaller, quieter and certainly better quality. you won't be dissapointed.

thanks Griff,
i might just do that, you"re the 2nd person who has reccomended the jet.
Claret, i was a reluctant convert to the T8, but now i always bring it with me when i go stalking. i don"t always use it, but i do bring it along!
when first light is at 3 or 4 am, and you"re only a couple of hundred yards from a house, it"s a lot more discreet than waking everyone in the area.
good shooting

Brass Thief,
there is another suppessor on the market called the gem-tech, you will find it on, www.tacticsllc.com
they are equally as good and have the option of a quick release mount. Peter at Jackson rifles does a quick release jetz for a 5.56mm, by the looks of it all it requires is a semi-circular groove in the barrel rather than a spigot and threaded..
good luck

Go with the Jet-z, I've not got one but one of the member of my club has and the first time I saw him use it, I would have sworn he was dropping the hammer on an empty chamber, that was until you heard the bullet catcher ringing Smiler
Very impressed, will be getting myself when I actually decide what rifle to get.

I agree with dan on this...

A mate has a Jet-Z and on his Anschutz all you can hear is the pin strike...An awesome bit of kit.

No, I don't think it would be him. He doesn't do much target shooting anymore.

what/where is CRC? (Croydon Rifle Club in Croydon by any chance???)

I have both the ASE ultra and the sak. In fact, I own 5 sak, and 2 ase.
I found the sak is cheaper, lighter, shorter, and nearly as efficient as the ASE. The only thing the ASE does better is silencing .22 pistols.
For the .22 air rifles, for rifles in .22lr, 22mag, 22 hornet, my reference is the sak, as the rifle remains easy to use: short, and well balanced...
