Dogs were 3. Border Guards tied with a chain two of them and with a wire on the third, four days ago, when the first snow came. The first day gave each dog half of bread, then only water. 3 days only water.
The largest, a mixt of Alsatian shepherd, a horrible dog otherwise, it started seeing his ribs. The middle has no breed on his blood. He sit under the stairs of the house, hiding from the rain, and he is trying to eat the chain. His eyes shines clear hunger. The smallest is pure breed border guard says: fox terrier. Tail curled, washed-out red color, long and drooping ears. Fox terrier, no doubt!
Great hunger! The guardian never put meat in his mouth since the big lake has frozen and his superior left him alone. Ugly loneliness!
At least if they have been left him some cartridges....The gun is useless now. Ready! It is time now! He take the ax and approaches the dogs.
"No breed" disappear under the stairs. He fears of the guardian heavy boot. Only after seeing the other two were untied, take courage and he goes outside. The hunt is started! After 15 minutes the guardian stops and look carefully on the snow. A clear trail of a big boar goes straight into the reeds. Dogs smell the boar. After 5 minutes the hell is unleashed.
Barks on all tones, growling, crying, for sure the hell is in reeds. Things are clear: dogs are holding the pig. The guardian take the ax and go after the dogs. He goes very slowly as the reed is very thick. Finally, he arrived. The boar is in the middle and dogs surround him.

He is exhausted and the dogs too. At the call of the border guard, the dogs attack again. One from behind, when the boar turns other dogs attack from the flanks, the little one bites the tail and it doesn't let go. The hog catches the biggest dog and gives it a serious beating. The dog yelps. " No breed" is holding to the boar left ear. The wild boar twist with fury and two dogs fly in the reeds. The pig stumbles and for a moment sits on his back. It breaths heavily and seems like it can't get up. When the dogs charge again, the border man takes advantage, gets closer lifts his axe and hits the black head with all his strength. The boar suddenly falls, the blood breaks, his feet throb convulsive and the dogs bite the thick skin. The man pulls the bayonet from his hip and cuts open the boar belly, with both hands pulls out the steaming guts. The dogs gobble everything. Where do they fit all this?

In the evening, four souls with full bellies. Man and dogs recline in the small room, near the terracotta stove. The border guard works something on a dog. When I look better, I see a white thread needle in his hands. He sews the skin of the scapula of the the stray dog. The dog cries, resigned. After he finishes sewing, he takes the fox terrier. Damn mutt, he got away this time, without any scar. The big one is cut badly. His skin hangs from his jaw, two ribs can be seen, surprisingly white in the clotted blood, his left foot is so fool of blood that you can't see the wound. Fierce boar. The tusks on this one!
The north is hauling outside. Hauling so loud, not even the waves can be heard. Winter is coming.

Marius,
Great story. Brings back memories of my much younger days when I was able to chase pigs with dogs. However, an active participant on AR, UltraMag does this often with great skill and success. He posts under the hog hunting section.

Good story. Continue to concentrate on the action and not on the details. The story is about action. I liked it.
