Would some of the European members on this forum, please advise as to where to hunt big wildboar in Europe, Eastern Europe or even Russia.

I am looking for a serious wildboar. I have seen pictures of 400lb+ boars and thats what I am looking for. I am not interested in farm fed feral hogs.

Thanks,

A

I have hunted wild boar here in Spain a few times and our pigs at best wil never be 400 pounds.

In northern Italy I have seen pigs over 350, but I don't think that's the place either.

Poland has a lot of pigs, is a huge country and is the most popular hunting country in Europe. Think of Poland as Americans do Alaska or Texas, it's where you hunt when you hunt out of state. Most middle class European nimrods hunt in Poland every year.

These other countries also have good pig hunting: Turkey (some of the biggest), Hungary (the best and most expensive), Czech Republic, Slovenia, Austria, Sweden, France, Estonia, Russia, and Romania. Every country in mainland Europ has wildboar, not all have them everywhere, but they all have them.

http://www.huntingconsortium.com is the address of Robert Kern. He is an American booking agent, and a longtime big shot with SCI. He knows Europe and has an office there, he is one of the best people to go to for hunts in Russia and the Stans. Most of Bobs concessions are $300-500 a day and an escalating scale on trophy fees.

http://www.diana.dk is the largest booking agency in Europe. They have hunts allover Europe and I am booked for three hunts next year with them, one in Poland (for pigs), one in Russia (for capercallie) and one in Austria (for chamois).
Diana & Wilson tours has a much cheaper daily rate, but concentrates on different countries than Bob does. Poland is their main one, whilst Bob works on Czech Republic the most.

All wildboar in Europe are similarly priced plan on E1000 for a 20cm boar. E500 for a boar under 16cm, and E350 for a boar under 12cm, and E250 for a 100 pound pig. Shoot a pig that has 25cm tusk and plan on paying E2000 or more. That's based on the length of the longest extracted tusk.

D99, your list is not complet, you forgot Germany, where you can hunt in the forest administration areas ("Staatsforst") perhaps more serious than in all other countries for wildboars and red stag! We are at this time in the red stag rut and I have guided from friday to monday 3 hunters for real big bulls with success!

Cool

R-375,

You've got some solid leads here already.

Bob Kearn's Hunting Consortium is an excellent starting point if you are serious about "Major League" West & Central European Big Game. His claim to fame has always been the Biggest and the Best and while I have never hunted through his outfit my smattering of sampling from selected clients appears to bear out that he delivers on what he offers.

Germany - It is possible BUT remember that the German hunting system is not set up for Hunting Tourism, do-able, yes but not the way it normally works.

Diana has some good offers, also in some off-the-normal-beaten-path locations like Turkey where large Boar can be had. I'd take a look at their website that D99 provided.

While major league tuskers are possible in all the countries that D99 mentioned (especially, Turkey, Hungary, and Romania) be prepared to lay out some serious Trophy Fees for the largest Wild Boar. If you've got deep pockets; go for it!

Cheers,

Number 10

Reddy375;

I have done quite a bit of wildboar hunting myself and I would recommend what I believe will bring you the best possible experience: stalking them at night under the full moon.

My company sends clients to hunt them like this in Turkey, where we work with a local outfitter whom we understand excels over the rest and is touted as the number one company outfitting in that country.

This is me on the left with a wildboar we shot under last August's full moon. On that trip, my three clients hunted for four nights and shot 9 tuskers from 18 to 24 cm (7-9.5 inches), wounding another 2 and missing another three, with those results not being exceptional.

And a close up here

Best regards

Montero,

You should use www.photobucket.comfor hosting you pictures instead of Imagestation, as this site doesn’t work that well most of the time.

Reddy375,

You have been pointed on the right direction by most of our AR members.
From experience I would say that if you choose to hunt Turkey you wouldn’t go wrong! And you would probably get the best value for your $$$!
I hunted Turkey with www.shikarsafaris.com and found them topnotch!

Thanks!

MF is also right, the Germans have big pigs, but hunting in Germany isn't set up for tourist the way it is in Poland, CZ, and Hungary.

Thank you for helping with the photos. And thank you both for the advise. I'll use photobucket from now on.

Best regards.

Montero, PM me a quote for the Turkish pigs, and let me know what the rental rifles are like.

Thanks,

I agree with Montero Turkey is a good choice for very big boars.

In Germany are very much boars but normaly not as big as in Turkey or russia.

The biggest boar ever been shot in Germany had a weigh of 204KG (empty) but this weigh is not so unusual in Turkey or russia.
