Does anyone know where i can find a goat with 24" horns in the UK? Anything will do, farmed, feral, wild etc, so long as it"s got 24" horns.
Honestly, It"s not fot me, It"s for a friend.......
good shooting

I have no big interest in the size of horns/antlers on anything i shoot, but i"ve heard of someone who wants a goats head(with 24" horns). It sounds like he"d make it worthwhile if he got the head he wanted.
good shooting

Just teasing. I think there are some people up in scotland that might be able to help you out.

I did know a guy that arranged these things but he has given it up as of 2 mths ago to go set up an operation in Namibia hunting.

I Just Googled This which might help, but I can ask a couple of people if you like.

Regards,

It will probbaly look a bit like this one.
A Feral Goat from New Zealand, looks like it was of Angora type. The Feral Angora types seem to have the biggest horns, especially the white ones.
I guided this one a month or so ago.
We have a few of these proportions.
For those who are interested in SCI scoring, it was about 12th in the Record Book. Two of the top 10, have come from our property.

That one is 29 inchs on each side. 24 is certainly do-able.

I just checked out the advert and it looke dlike they were offering 27" goats, and upto 50 boar for this year.

I didnt realise Boar were found in those numbers in Cheshire! Presume they might be escapees that got out just before you get there, or am i being cynical???

As I said to Brass in a PM , I would approach anything like this in the UK with extreme trepidation.

It wasn't long ago that leases in Scotland that had goats on them couldn't be given away and now suddenly you hear about all sorts of prices being charged.

However, I have spoken to a couple of reputable people about boar in this country so I'm sure it is possible to get good goats to if you have your wits about you.

SWS, how did the rut go up near you this year? I didn't manage to get up to Hadleigh for my annual stalks with my mate so missed out this year.

Rgds,

Unfortunately i havent been out for a roe buck this year! It seems to clash with a lot of the big clay shoots, and selection shoots (surprisingly i got high gun at an England FITASC selection, typical me didnt shoot the others so cant qualify!).

However with all the big FITASC shoots over for this year, i can get stuck into the fallow bucks! have just acquired(I hope) another decent block.

Was thinking we ought to arrange an AR clay shoot sometime.

Hope the rest of you had more luck with the roe then i did.

On a plus side i did see a big munty when feeding the poults last night!!!!

Last time I enquired about goat shooting there was a 150 quid 'trophy fee'...in addition to a daily rate. This was somewhere in dumfries and galloway. Needless to say I left their trophy goats well alone!
