This nice 11 pointer was taken this morning. Also The hunters father finally took an 8 point stag after a 40 year wait to get back to Scotland and hunt!!

A fine stag to be sure!

That one weighed 22 stone (308lbs /140kg) exactly, dressed out on the hook. We've had them 20% heavier - they're big boys these Galloway forest stags.

Hopefully we can get another 10-12 stags like this onto the floor by the end of next Sunday.

Adam.

Boggy,

I got off thehill on Sunday last week and I'm still aching!!

Bursting to go back though. Instead I have to sit at Ampton this weekend with Mr Claret Dabler and friends and drink falling over water...

It's tough out there Wink

Extraction is much easier at Ampton, carry a 25 pound deer 7 yards to the back of the pickup. 100kg deer are a fucking nightmare, we have one hanging here just now....

Drinking and shooting the breeze at Ampton is a much better option.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Thanks Brad but it wasn't my stag. It is the first trophy stag we have taken on the new estate we are managing in Dumfries.

I was up there last week and had 7-8 big stags roaring around me. It is quite a thing for someone like me who has had relatively little exposure to hill reds.

Yea I know the feeling, here in the western US deer are usually in small groups of 2 or 3. So for me seeing and hearing a big heard of Red Stags was really impressive.

Looks like that new ground will work out or you!

Cheers

That's a nice animal, congrats to the hunter.

Sadly, I shan't be at Ampton and will miss the craic although I shall be out shooting Roe and Munties in Surrey.

Regards to all the regulars!
