mho, Sorry I got back to this thread after a very long time - I did not exaggerate about the high end Russian sporting guns. Please check out www.shipunov.com which is a site that Carcano 91 referred me to - I had seen some shotguns with hinged front triggers and fine engraving in Russia many years ago but did not know about the manufacturer until I was given their site URL on AR! Good hunting!

I believe the Kamchatka bears are Eurasian brown bears and as such are not as large as the biggest Alaskan browns. There are some nice bears taken from the Kamchatka region, but none of them will be as large as a real Alaskan trophy bear. dave

konst#1, I am afraid Carcano is the person whom you should ask - one of our stars at AR! I have no idea what the shotgun that I saw in 1992-93 cost back then, but it belonged to one Kadykov who was a Member of the Supreme Soviet, sort of like a Communist Senator. I presume if you e-mail the Shipunov company, they would be able to give you information. They do have some strange combinations like break open shotguns with bolt action/semi auto rifles mounted over them. I presume the Vierlings must be similar to some of the Austrian/German combinations though the rifle calibers would be 7.62x54 or 9x54 both of which were popular with pig and deer hunters back then. I am sure that these guns would sell well even at today's stabilised Rouble prices. Russia used to be a very inexpensive country to live in back then and I don't suppose that it has changed much. Considering the new openness there, we should soon see these guns on sale in the West. Good hunting!
