Hi guys,

This isn't exactly what it seems. I actually will be getting hitched next year so a couple of my more sporting mates are discussing the stag already.... Sounds ominous!!

The point is that originally we were going to go salmon fishing on the West Coast of Ireland but now it looks like there will be a number of non sporting attendees, and the total wil be about 15-18 fellas.

Has anyone got any ideas on what we could do for the day that has a slight sporting theme?

I've thought of a days simulated game shooting, or some clays and buggy driving.

does anyone know anything about the possibility of going to bisley and doing some kind of all round competition?

Any ideas will be gratefully received.

Hi Fallow buck,
as far as i know , Bisley does not cater for such events.
But a couple of other local companies do.
E J Churchill's, located just outside high Wycombe, and will cater for such events fully.

West Wycombe Corporate Entertainment

Tel: 01494 883 808

Fax: 01494 883 773

www.westwycombe.co.uk

Ask for James or Trigger when you call.

They use part of the beautiful Dashwood estate for the events and functions.
This could include:
Clays (sporting, teaching, grouse butts)
Archery
Quad/off roading, to name but a few.

You also have Holland and Holland at West Ruislip Middlesex. You can shoot clays, but elect to shoot any number of there big guns for a fee. have you ever fired a 416, or a 500 NE . You can there!

A little further out of town you could try the Oxford Gun Company. Jericho Farm.
he has been organising stag and hen weekend for the shooting minded for a couple of years. They are great company, and should put on a good event.
Well, let me know how you get on.

Congrats Fallowbuck! I guess the rut has finally arrived.

Have a great day whatever you do, can't start planning too early! Speaking of stag night planning, isn't it the best man's job?

Congratulations with your engagement FB! cheers

Are you sure your soon-to-be better half knows what she's getting herself into? Or have you already trained her in the fine arts of hunting and fishing? Big Grin

FB, in Ireland, those who don't fish can play golf, or drink. No shortage of either.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

Eric,

I only proposed once the training programme and probationary period were completed!!!

She recently got interested in fly fishing. I got her a rod and reel and she really enjoys it. Yet she still hasn't caught a fish!!

She shoots like a demon, but then I've never met an Irish person that was less than a crack shot. I took her clay shooting and after three stands wshe was two clays up on me?!?!??! With a rifle she can pretty much hit anything within reason. Apparently it's easy cos all you have to do is put the cross on it and pull the trigger.... Roll Eyes

She'll shoot game for the first time this year and regularly beats on my shoot.

Not bad for someone that was practically vegitarian and an anti when I met her.

As for the stag it looks like either the fishing or some kind of all round competition at Bisley or lower lodge. I quite fancy a go at the running deer targets.

Trying to think of when you should get married -
Rule out:-

April to early June - roe bucks
Mid July - Mid August - roe rut
September - lots of visibility on the harvested fields
October - Fallow rut
November - Does
Feb - Does in game shooting estates
March - Muntjac

I would suggest you set a date in Mid June or December/January. Live round incidents on honeymoon in June will result in Birthday parties in March which isn't the end of the world (better make it earlier in June in case she goes over into roe buck season start) December/Jan would make it August/September - late August -September aren't too bad either... Big Grin

Best is to get married on Xmas and get amorous in March!

1894,

Strange you should think that way as this is exactly what I did without the "live Round Incidents" (I plan on being the only kid in this family for a while longer if possible.... It's not gonna be easy!!) I don't really have to worry about the roe though as I don't have any at the moment so it gives me a bit more scope.

Hencee we decided on June 9th which just happensd to coincide with the big run of Albacore Tuna and the odd Bluefin in Cyprus.... I can't imagine how that happened Wink

Looks like the ushers lunch is sorted!!!

Bumscratcher,

A freind of mine yused to Ref at the Southdown club ffor the FITASC comps they held. It's a ggoood club by all acccounts although I have never been there.

Thanks,
