Have been waitng now for a week for a two piece base mount for the rifle from MidwayUK, so decided to ring them eventually after leaving messages my persistence finally paid up, got to speak to a human and not an answering machine.
So heres how it goes:
G: where are my bases?
M: Well sir they have to come from Midway USA.
G: so you don't carry any stock!
M: no sir it all comes from Midway USA.
G: so when will I get my bases?
M: next week, but we have posted them out today!
G: so I should get them tommorrow!
M: no sir next week.
G: but I am paying £8.85 for next day am I not?
M: theres a been a problem with parcelforce!
G: When these bases arrive next week I will be sending them back!
M: goodbye sir......

So to all who order from Midway uk be prepared for a wait they have nothing in stock.
Doesn't tell you that when you order online,
Won't be using them again..
new gun ready, scopes arrived, no bases!!
Am I pissed of course not. Mad

griff & FB,

I'm surprised Midway even communicates with you, for years every time they saw my European Visa Card number they simply refuse to deal with me, so I've given up on them - period.

On a more positive note I take all my business to either Cabela's, Midsouth & Brownell's; who's Customer Service Department's are a joy to deal with - even Internationally.

Cheers,

FB,
there you go again FB just when I had got over the last 200 bucks the customs slapped on me..
I wouldn't mind if they were consistent, they just seem to have this hap-hazard way, ordered the same goods 5 times and only once did i get collared for customs, order some scopes and the wrath of Ghengis Khan descends upon you, YOU WILL PAY US $200. for what!! you thieving B****RDS
No Negotiation, pay or else... Mad Mad Mad Mad

Ordered from brownells some burris signature rings, expected them to be here by now so I gave them a ring. They said there was a technical hitch, they then explained that they didn't have any in stock!! Some technical hitch!!!

never tried midsouth will see what they have to offer..

Griff,

Parly it seems to be who does the delivery..I have noticed that when it comes over by UPS they *always* seem to collect the tax..Parcel Force seemto be a bit hit or miss and with ordinary post, I rarely get hit...

I also only notice that if i get stuff sent to my local sub postoffice for collection (rather than my home address) I rarely get caught for taxes either..

Regards,

Pete

It seems Midway has gotten too big for their breeches. Personalized customer service has been downgraded to you being just another number. Sad.

I ordered a thumbhole laminate stock for my .243 from Midway. It arrived on time as promised. It was also considerably cheaper than anywhere else So far my experience with Midway has been a good one. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones.

Dave,
Ups/Fedex/TNT all have their own in house customs,if you buy from outside the UK, then get it shipped ordinary mail signed for and if it is under $100 it is excluded from any export licenses. It seems to be a hit or miss wether or not you get collared for tax.
Any items that have been sent USPS have sailed straight in without a sniff from customs..

griff is giving good advice. Keep the amount of the order under 100 USD. If I have more than 100 USD to order I split it in separate orders. The additinal shipping costs are far outweighed by the reduced customs and VAT costs. So, griff, what came over you to order through Midway UK?

Wink,
new gun was ready apart from bases, so ordered some from what they quoted as "in stock",yes they are in stock but in midwayus,if they had of told me that then would of ordered from Brownells or Cabelas who's service is excellent.
A friend of mine ordered a bore guide last week and had a technical query, and Mr Gavin Mair from Midway UK was to say the least unhelpful,
when the returning e-mail stated that MidwayUK was getting a reputation for bad service, he was only to helpful.Should not have had to get to that stage in the first place!
I certainly wouldn't reccomend them!
And I haven't had a refund for the items I returned.

regards
griff
