I usually hunt Bucks in Hungary at the beginning of may, and usually mature bucks are already without velvet. Sometime some young (fiatal, pronunced like fital in magyar) still have velvet.
April is the period when the bucks scratch trophy on trees to eliminate velvet.

Hi all,

I have been invited to have a go for a buck in Suffolk when the buck season opens, but was curious as to when you expect the bucks to be out of velvet. I don't often stalk roe unaccompanied so knowledge is sketchy so the question may be entirely irrelevant.

All info greatly appreciated as I could arrange to go up a little later if it would be better.

Ta,
