Anybody familiar with this show? Is it an end user type of show with outfitters like SCI, or a trade show for retailers, wholesalers etc? Or is it both? TJR ============== Todd J. Rathner The T. TJR. Are you referring to the IWA Show in Nuremburg? If you are, a lady you and I know quite well was there last year. From what I understand it is very much like our Shot Show here. "When you play, play hard; when you work, don't play at all." Theodore Roosevelt

IWA used to be exclusively a trade show for dealers, but of late (last year?) they started opening it up on one day for the general public. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... Mike is correct, the IWA, Internationale Waffen Austellung (loosely translated: International Weapons Display) is a Trade Show for Manufacturers & Retailers. For the first time last year the last day of the Show was opened to the public. If you are an Outfitter, then the Dortmund Hunt/Fish Show at the end of January or the Hohe Jagd in Salzburg directly after would be the venue. Cheers, Number 10

Stefano, I have been to "Jagen & Fischen" a couple of times. I don't have the experience with shows Gerry does, in particular I go as a private person rather than have a stand at the show, so take my information for what it is. I liked the Munich show, it was certainly large enough for you to spend a day, although probably not as large as the Dortmund venue. Timewise, Munich is a bit later in the year than either Dortmund, Salzburg or (if you can gain admission) IWA. That suited me a bit better, as I could combine it with business in Munich or at least in that general direction. I would go again, should I get the opportunity. - mike ********************* The rifle is a noble weapon... I agree with Gerry, the Dortmund show is one of the best. You could spend days in there. It is also the best place to meet guides and see whats available for hunting around the world, but the Munich show is more personable, and the people there are not as pricey. I´ve been going to both for many years. You can´t go wrong in Dortmund.

Hi Mike, thank you very nuch for the infos, I'm curious to see the differences with EXA fair in Brescia. There you can find a mix of anything about outdoors, guns, ammo, hunting clothing, hunting programs, outfitters and hunting organizators, archery, cutlery, demo of engravig and more and more.... Ihad been two or three times at IWA, you can get in if you have a document that qualify you as freelance of, for example, a gun shop well it is enough. I cohoperated for my pleasure with an Italian customizer, a simple declaration by him was enough for the admission. bye Stefano Waidmannsheil

ref IWA Nürnberg I have just returned from helping on an exhibitors stand for the second year running. The public are now excluded again and is only trade but 50% plus of the visitors were private folks with trick out invitations. And it is not allowed to sell stock to any visitors. Regards

No comparison to Dortmund because the IWA is guns, very little hunting and caters to professional visitors. This means that a lot of very interesting stuff can be seen. Your local gunsmith can most likely supply a ticket to a good customer. The show is definitely worth it.
