Now that ever so slowly we are getting the harvest in. What wild broods are you seeing. Personally I'd thought we had just about lost the lot , but have been pleasantly surprised over the last 3-4 days. We even have a couple of small English starting to show.

You know I have been to Britain and Ireland quite a few times, and I have also lived in mainland Europe for 5 years. But Dude, your last statement flew right over me. I speak pretty good Kiwi, Aussie, fluent Canadian and American, but your UK English is flying right over my head. What are you talking about?

Wasn't it Oscar Wild who said "Nations separated by a common language"? Or something along those lines I'm talking about wild broods of pheasant and partridge, in particular English or grey partridge as opposed to redleg or French partridge.

That's what I had figured! Greys are very uncommon in the states as well. They need such specialized feed and cover, and the damn falcons, owls, and hawks are murder on them. It's actually fairly uncommon for a breeder to raise them, replacement stock is murder to find.

Had a pleasant hour or so watching a handfull of this years wild/scattered hen pheasants whilst waiting for fox, they could'nt decide wether to hop a few strands or go under through the brash, quite comical at times, in the end they became the indicator of the approach of our quarry!
