Kiwi Bud,

We try not to get too wrapped up in all the glossy coating here as this issue has arisen lately at many of the Continetal shows. Apparently there is a fine line drawn between depicting an animal being shot and the RESULTS of a shot animal. I tend to agree with you but don't want to get hassled every morning when the admin folks are making their rounds.

Our DVD ran all week, everyday from 10:00 to 18:00. Couldn't hardly move for the crowd standing there viewing but our's clearly showed Clients shooting (not directly at an animal) and then the resulting expired animal - that is apparently O.K.; it just happened that it was pure dumb luck that our DVD was produced as such but understand the Show organization clearly didn't want dispplays of animals thrashing around in death scenes.

Eeker

My own view is that if people can't stand to watch these videos, then they shouldn't pay to come in the door. Different story if we are playing our videos in a public area where, unsuspecting may be offended.
Hunting is hunting. We kill stuff.

Kiwi,

You're thrashing the messenger here - I agree with you and if you took a poll the "paying guests" who are hunters & fishermen as well would look at whatever was presented to them by the Outfitters & Suppliers - they don't require an Organizer to censor what they view or the "public" may perceive.

It's the Organizer's (and Organizer's of other Shows also) who have concern's (it's their reasoning; not mine) and if they keep it up they'll wonder why Outfitters eventually decide not to be present.

TrackersNZ,

Was the DVD in question particularly grumsome or could it have been considered in bad taste??

I am wondering if it was intended to keep theshow family orientated maybe???

Regards,

Pete

No, I heard about this shit a year or two ago already, when I talked with a guy from Paul Parey. He already announced that they wouldn't be able to show killing scenes at the Dortmund show anymore and therefore had no interest in some North American videos I was discussing with him.

Interesting about the hunting videos.

Back in the 1970s, when I was of an age to receive sex education at school, the school showed government education department videos of animals and humans being born.

Apart from the educational value, I believe it was to put girls off having sex etc. The Uk had, and continues to have, one of the worst / highest level of unplanned, teenage andunderage pregnancy rate in Europe.

So, I guess it did not have the desired affect. Mind you, my school was in a semi rural area.....(The remainder of this paragraph has been edited by the author to protect public sensibilities Wink

I don't think anyone plays "Grusome" hunting videos at shows. Nor anywhere else. These videos were, in general, just hunting videos. Hunters harvesting game i.e. Shooting animals, birds etc, as you do when you are out hunting. People promting their businesses and what they have to offer. From what I've seen only the clean one shot kills are shown on most videos. No different to what you watch on the Outdoor Channel in USA, or what you buy in most hunting stores.
I didn't see if the guys with fishing videos were also asked to switch off.
