I'm thinking about buying one of these to use if I go on a driven boar hunt (and as a spare rifle here in the US) and would like some opinions from anyone with experience using one or both - quality? reliability? accuracy? ease of maintenance? I'd like to buy one chambered in 9.3x62mm but have been told they aren't being imported so would probably be either a 300 Win Mag or 300 WSM - is one easier to find ammo for in Europe than the other and does one function in a semi-auto better than the other? Any countries in Europe that don't allow semi-auto's for hunting? DB Bill aka Bill George

Here you can find ammo for both at large huntingstores 300wm is more common cal in sweden. Many european countrys have a restriction in how many cartridges a semiauto are allowed to have/take (ex Germany 2+1).

Last time that I checked, semi-autos in France had to be modified to a fixed magazine configuration with capacity limited to around three rounds. 300 Win Mag is more common in France the 300 WSM.

Vangulik is correct for France. Have hunted with a Browning BAR for 10++ years, in 300WM for driven boar - perfect medicine...

Hi Bill, you will not be able to bring it to the UK and if you go with the Tunisian boar hunt then you will need to uses a shotgun as it is no rifles. That's no major problem though as I'm sure there is a shotgun and a box of slugs for you to borrow. K K
