Folks,

'Thrombosis : when a clot blocks the whole system'

Thought you may find the following of interest - truly amazing what comes out of Google!

"Morse code is made up of dots and dashes, each of which has its own prescribed length. But no one ever replicates those prescribed lengths perfectly. When operators send a message-particularly using the old manual machines known as the straight key or the bug-they vary the spacing or stretch out the dots and dashes or combine dots and dashes and spaces in a particular rhythm. Morse code is like speech. Everyone has a different voice.

In the Second World War, the British assembled thousands of so-called interceptors-mostly women-whose job it was to tune in every day and night to the radio broadcasts of the various divisions of the German military. The Germans were, of course, broadcasting in code, so-at least in the early part of the war-the British couldn't understand what was being said. But that didn't necessarily matter, because before long, just by listening to the cadence of the transmission, the interceptors began to pick up on the individual fists of the German operators, and by doing so, they knew something nearly as important, which was WHO was doing the sending!"

Point being - it does not take long to pick up someone's transmission style.

That applies whether you are transmitting using a morse key - or typing posts on a forum.

Your words and punctuation, your willingness to google for personal information - to be later regurgitated in a manner designed to indicate you have personal knowledge of another forum member. Your willingness to offer ascerbic put-downs as opposed to helpful advice. Your inability to offer any personal history or credence.

All of these clearly identify an individual - it really matters not what 'handle' he happens to be using at the time.

We enjoy this forum and share it with like-minded hunters, people who wish to be constructive.

There really is no place here for someone who comes on with a different agenda.

Fortunately, they soon depart. Wink

Iam, as usual you are correct.

I think most of us spotted our old friend immediately. I have so far managed to resist the temptation to respond in an appropriate manner.

Ian

Great post.

I shall remain ever more vigilant to the rhythms, style, content and agenda's of others posts from now on.

Fascinating stuff.

Makes the world seem rather paranoid and insular though. Don't you think? All this is it him or is it him over there. No, its possibly her. sofa

Is it possibly why we the hunting fraternity find ourselves so marginalised in modern society here in the UK, is it because we are so self obsessed, so frightened of our own shadows, so willing to hide behind the clique, so unwilling to be forward thinking, so unwilling to accept alternative views with out crying troll, so unwilling to enter into robust adult discussion with out reverting to infantile fits of pique.

All that is required is maturity, intelligence, and a willingness to accept others without having to agree with all that they may say. Now that's a fraternity worth belonging to. salute

Any of us HAMS could have told you that ! The 'fist' was also important to discover when a resistance operator was captured and someone else was trying to imitate him.
Almost worldwide morse code has now been eliminated as a requirement for getting a Ham license .
