Thursday afternoon saw a friend and Imaking the long drive up to our lease near Aberdeen.

After stalking all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, my total bag was one mouse!

I am able to report that this was taken in the early hours of Sunday at the back of the cooker in our cabin.

There was much debate on the ethics of the kill as my mate says by superglueing the choclate button to the mouse trap, I had crossed the boundry of what could be considered fair chase!

He did in fact manage to get a roe doe which i said obviously needed culling...when he asked why, I said it was obviously blind deak and dumb if he managed to stalk it!

I admit my ignorance,
but what can be considered the trophy in a mouse? The tail? the skull? or the theeth?
Interesting question doesnt'it ?
Maybe we should have to consult SCI freiends.
Oh Oh I'm SCI member too, but I did not study enough, it seems

Hey Steve,

Just for your information

Trophy Mouse Hunt

Who needs Africa any more?!?!?!

Any ideas for suitable set of rules as to what makes a trophy mouse capture claim submissable??

Shall we start with the traditional 2 independant witnesses?

Bored FB...

That link obviously begs the question: is a .30-06 enough for even large trophy mice?

Sounds like a great time in the fields

How shall you mount this trophy, shoulder mount or full mount, maybe European style? I guess it depends how much space is avilable in the trophy room

I have read about the annual shoot at Harrods, have you been thinking of an invitation. English big game hunt at it's best

Gents,

I did not get a chance to measure the beasts skull as required by SCI as my mate quite maliciously disposed of the carcass while I was looking for a tape; I think he did not want it to show up his roe doe while hanging in the larder!

However, from my intial inspection I believe it would have scored extremely well under Rowland Ward system as this takes into account not just the skull size but the "bulgy eyes" factor when its in the trap! And boy, did this little guy have bulgy eyes!

Alas as the carcass was destroyed before official measuring could take place, I had only dream about the gold medal which slipped through my fingers!

Regards,

Pete

Life can be so unfair! Rats! (Not quite sure whether that expression is appropriate given the subject?). Not to worry, surely you'll get another one.
