50p/lb roe and 75p/lb red etc thumbdown
thats highway robbery!!

Whats going on though ? haven't sold any venison for the last 2 years but Roe prices were always higher than red round our way.
Personally I wouldn't sell at that price,I'd rather give it away to family and friends.

I asked a stalker near Pitlochry that same question and he reckoned it was 50-60p/lb for reds and a little more for roe in this season.

In the north of England I get 85p per pound for Roe, I believe it is the same for Fallow and Red. Not quite as bad as in the south of our fair land?

Here roe goes for £1.86/kg.

I stalked in North Cornwall this summer, could barely shift the carcasses. No-one local interested in roe (too small and too little profit for the labour were quoted)

I am extremely well served with a large, friendly and honest dealers 10miles from my doorstep - there are parts of the UK where you can barely shift any venison unless you have a chiller and shoot enough for such a firm to do a weekly pick up.

We get just under 20p/lb when they will tae it and you generally lose 5-10lb in what they call "damage"... I haven't sold a deer to anyone in the last two years. As 222 said I'd rather give it away and have gratefull freinds.

Then you go to the gamefair and see fallow SHANKS foir £14/each!!! and a rolled joint (excuse the pun) for £40+....

Reading in the Sporting Gun this mng that there may only be 40 ish game dealers left after the FSA has its way.

Now, I am quoting last season's prices here, and as just lately twenty years ago seem's fresher in my mind that twenty minutes I am not guaranteeing their accuracy. Ninety pence a kilo for Roe and about half that for Sika I think. A Sika hind was making somewhere in the £25 bracket as was a Roe hind, I think Confused

Roebuck,

That would be the place in Bonar, but as I recall there is not much difference between there and Shin Game. It's just that we pass the Bonar one on our way home from wher we do our hind stalking.

Hoping for some up to date prices soon Big Grin

JAYB,

good luck with the hinds,
I was using Fyne game in dingwall, the guy running the operation always gave reasonable prices at the time...as well as the odd freebie pack of venison sausages and burgers thumb
The complimentary drinks tokens for use at Moy game fair went down a treat too Big Grin
