Last sunday I was invited by a former hunting team friend to join him and his new team to go roe deer hunting. As I hope you are all aware, in Sweden we hunt with dogs in the late fall and early winter, for fox, roe and hare. This sunday the team captain told us to shoot, Moose, they still had a ticket, wild boar should a yearling or male appear, roe, fox and hare. We started with two dogs in a oblong shaped piece of land next to a lake, To my eye it looked promising and I was given a "pass" a spot to stand on with a stand next to. I wrongfully decided to not use the hight of the stand and elected to minimize my scent by standing in a small indentation in the ground in front of some raspberry bushes. When the dogs, btw these were pushing/flushing dogs, they don´t drive the game like other dogs do, they came in the tracks of two roe deer that must have been watching my spot for some time before they elected to try to make there way out through the line of shooters, one gun up the line. I actualy heard the deer for some time but I never saw them. Had I been in the high seat, stand I would have and most likly been able to take a good shot. I used my drilling at this hunt. However in less than 30 seconds time after the dogs passed my spot, shots rang out from the next gun up the line. On the radio the guy called out, one deer, perhaps female, down, one deer left, not shot at. Good news, 5 minutes later a second, single shot rang out, and the report on the radio was single deer, down. The drive was called of, and I wandered over to the guy that shot the closest to me. It was his first roe deer, a yearling buck, and he was most proud. Pic published with consent. We did a short version of jägarhälsning, waildmansheil, it know I got that wrong, and we proceded to dress the deer. I actualy was happier for this guy taking his first kill, than for me taking another kill this season. Best regards to you all.

Nice story, I was hunting today, as well. Saw a roe deer, very fast and many wild boar, too far away. I only succeeded in killing a pine tree, which jumped into my shot at the only boar which was not far away... The general result was good, between about 60 hunters a total of 75 animals, 9 roe deer, similar number of red deer, the rest was pigs. Dogs did a great job.

Arild- Yes a weee ruffled, due to the use of 2x12 gauge rounds with US nr 3 and the usual tugging from the dogs... I belive the hunter took a finishing round, coup de grac, to the head and througly peppered the whole carcass with lead. Better to be on the safe side, yesssss.. Best regards Chris. BTW this saturday it´s time again, I have an invite to Skokloster, a large estate som 60 minutes drive from Stockholm, I am so looking forward to it.
