I am looking to potentially hunt in Ireland but have no clue when seasons are or even whats available. I will be over there in Mid January for the UFC in Dublin. My friend Dan Henderson is in the main event vs. Rich Franklin and we want to stay a few days and knock something down if possible. If anybody has any info it would be greatly appreciated. There's a lot of great deer hunting in Ireland, the best-known area is in the mountains of Wicklow. The main target species is sika, though fallow and reds also exist. Unfortunately by mid-January the buck season will be closed. You should be able to arrange some well-priced hind stalking though. Many (most?) visiting hunters just borrow the stalker's rifle. John Fenton is perhaps the best known deer guide in Wicklow and I'm sure someone will pass you his details. I have not hunted with him because I shoot with family over there. The numbers of deer are very high but the hunting is fun and challenging. www.spartahunt.com Hit 'destinations' and check out his picture galleries... | |||
