Hello all, I hope it's ok to post this..... If anyone is interested, I have a number of large commercial refrigerators (Like those Coke fridges). With very minor mods (to allow the carcass to hang), they would make excellent deer chillers for the recreational stalker. The interior measurements are as follows: 152cms high, 50cms deep, and 48cms wide. I am after £40 each for them, they can be collected from St Albans, or I may be able to deliver them. If they're of interest, pm me and I can send you pictures. Eric.

I would be very interested. I'm in surrey and would need it delivered though. Count experiences, not possessions.

Eric, No problems posting this here as its going to be aimed at UK stalkers only. Its a pity they are not a bit wider..48cm is just under 19"...I have something very similar which is about 21" wide and you can just get two roe in or a single fallow pricket... I paid £57 delivered for mine, so £40 is a very fair price if they are in good condition... Post some pics if you can..If you're not sure how, email them to him and I'll post them here for you.. Regards, Pete

Hi Eric Working on the sizes quoted They would be suitable for single roe or muntjac but you'd stuggle to get even a small fallow squeezed in there.

H5, As I said earlier, my chiller is only a touch bigger than these, and based on that, I'd think these would hold a single fallow pricket or doe ok, providing the head was removed...The carcass would probably be touching the walls in places and certainly a bigger unit would be better, but for the money its not bad..Even if at a later date a person did drop on something bigger, a second fridge is always handy if you process you're own game.. Alternatively, I think you'd also get two reasonably sized muntjac in the unit, but probably only a single Roe Regards, Pete

Pete, that chiller is probably big enough to take a field dressed Jacobs mutton wether? What do you think? Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they are not out to get you....

The pictures I took today are absolutely rubbish! I shall take a decent set tomorrow that I hope Pete will be kind enough to upload for me! I haven't tried putting a carcass in one of the chillers, but I'd say Pete and H5 are probably rightabout the size. One roe, two muntjac, or one smallish fallow with head and feet off ought to fit ok. Eric.

I run one like this (a double one) at the moment and it will fit a fallow pricket in there or a doe, buta 3-4yo+ will be a struggle on the height in mine. That will depend on the hanging arrangement you rig up as mine is a bit low. Either way I think these are a real bargain for the occasionall stalker and worth having even if it means you need to squash a fallow in to buy you an extra couple of days before processing. One carcas pays for the unit anyway. Thanks for posting Eric. Rgds, FB

Pete's kindly agreed to post some pics on my behalf, but in the meantime feel free to PM me with an email address and I'll forward them to anyone who's interested. Eric.

Eric, I've posted the pics in your post above.. FB is correct about the height being an issue as most of these units are only 60" tall internally.. The trick is to fit the hanging rail as high as practical in the unit, and when dealing with a fallow pricket or doe, hang it using a pair of short "S" Hooks via the hocks direct off the rail, rather than using a conventional "W" gambrel and standard 6" "S" hook .. I was just thinking, (a dangerous thing I know...) These fridges would be good for hanging sausages in to bloom or perhaps maturing cheese in. If th condensor works well you could also hang jointed meat in them to mature given they all look in good clean order. Rgds, FB

A quick update for all interested parties! I was supposed to receive the go-ahead to dispose of the chillers on Monday from the marketing company that uses them, however they keep getting distracted and haven't given the go ahead yet. I am 'fairly' confident that they will do so this week. Please bear with me, I'll keep all intersted bods up to date as I hear! Thanks All! Eric.

Cranborne Chase, If you click on the persons name you want to to send a PM to, a menu of options will appear...one of those options is "Invite XXXX to a Private Topic" (ie PM)..click on this it will take you to the relevant screens which are easy enough to follow from there.. Regards, Peter
