Some years ago I purchased a used barrel for a Blaser K95 single shot rifle. The caliber is 8x75 mm RS, the barrel fit into the rifle without modifications and shot well.

After some time, rust developed in the chamber. I removed it, oiled the rifle and stored it again, thinkling that maybe somehow it had gotten humid. Some weeks later, rust was there again. Same clean&oil procedure, same results.

I finally asked Blaser's customer service for advice, after a friend's recommendation and statement that they are usually very customer minded. The friendly gentleman from Blaser told me to please send the barrel with a contact phone number, they would need to look into it to see what could be done.

Yesterday I got the barrel back, a new one was fitted into the locking piece, new sights, new rust protection on outside surface, new proof shot, looks like new! The best news: Everything free of charge!

I presume that there was some material or welding deficiency. Anyway, I had not claimed that I purchased a new barrel and did not ask for warranty. They exchanged it for free, anyway.

Their products migth be a little more expensive than others. However, all their rifles I have seen shot very well. Besides, they take great good of their customers. Great experience, I'll come back!

Yes,

Blaser Germany is great, Blaser Sweden aka Nordmark are not so great,

a shooter I know had a similar experience with a R93 Barrel, also an 8 mm bore, the first/last 7 cm of the barrel rusted/pitted so bad it would not longer shoot,

he was turned down by Nordmark as per his request to them.

He now owns a 42,5 cm long Blaser Barrel in 8x57, pitted part cut off, barrel now shoots great.

Great luck there DUK, have any pics of this wonder of yours? last what is the recoil like?

Best regards Chris

Firing pin broke on mine - probably from dry firing shame repaired FOC by blaser UK.

Probably about to order a 243 barrel in the near future.

BlaserUSA is OK, but you have to talk to the "right" person (the one that knows his butt from a hole in the ground). I ordered a BBF 97 12 ga over 308 "shorty" from a dealer and was told that BlaserUSA said that they didn't make it in a short version, but the website clearly states that they do. Long story short, we found someone that actually knew the product line, and I am now getting the gun that I want. Wink

We have sent a few K95s to get barrels fitted that didn't fit.

You know the deal you buy a barrel, and ignore you dealers recomendation to have it fitted. Then the gun gets stuck closed and you send it to Blaser.

So I sent it in and a few weeks later with no charge it came back, fitted perfect.

Blaser is great for service.

I have 3 sets of barrels now for my K95, two I purchased used over the internet. All fit without problems. A good friend has the same amount, also bought used, all fitted. You might have had bad luck.

Now, combination barrels for the B95 usually require some fitting, the fore end might not fit well. My gun smith did that for little money, no need to involve Blaser.

AHAHAHAH

I like that very very much because I asked Alan RHone many times and he did not even asked the factory.

May I be rude to ask how long did the special order take to make and cost ?

I will understand if you dont want to disclose the cost in public

I want a barrel for my K95 in 6mmBR ...........

Give me a PM - I've got an extra A-Zoom 5.6x50R Snap-Cap and can obtain a 6.5x57R for you, too.

They work very well; much better than a pencil eraser glued into an empty cartridge case.

Cheers,

222, 243, and 30-06. I am buying a second gun I think. Probably 7mm Remington Mag, a 9.3x74R, and a 308 with a stutzen barrel.

I am envious to say the least. When you move to Portsmouth I will sure like to meet up with you perhaps in Bisley (not too far from Portsmouth)

I have today spoken to an italian Blaser distributor who has kindly agreed to ask the factory if they will chamber me a 6mmBR for the K95.

Londonhunter,

A 6mm BR would be awesome! I have an extra .243/6mm Lilja barrel blank laying around not doing anything. I need to get a mill and lathe and see if I can teach myself how to contour a K95 barrel down.

This guy is rumoured to build custom barrels for both K95s and R93s. The barrels are based on Border blanks. He seems to have a good reputation in Germany and Austria.

I doubt service is either quick or cheap... But if a custom barrel is what you have your heart set on...

I'm not sure the English part of the website works, but here is the page for custom barrels in German

If only we knew how the barrel was fastened in the monobloc. Soldered, copper induction current?

If the existing barrel can be removed it should be a fairly simple task to copy profile, chamber and refit any makers blank in what ever the hell chambering we want.

Add in a tilting block with offset firing pin and make mine a 22rf! Big Grin

Sorry for the hijacking

I have emailed Bixn-Andy 04 times withtout a reply.

I also called them but keep getting an answerphone

Any suggestions ?

My K95 - even trying to take the front sight off caused major problems with gunsmiths here in UK.

Repeatedly I am told that Blaser metal is treated differently that they cannot hide the marks after takin the metallic sight off.

I would not even try change anything with Blasers again unless the gunsmith is very experience with them. From my experience none of them are in the UK for such major surgery.

Oh well dream on ........a 6mmBR K95

If you have a source for K95 barrels in exotic calibers, I'd be interested, as well!

Just spoke to LEE at Border barrels.

He stated very clearly that if I make a group order and 03+ will be worth his while, he is happy to supply the blanks to Bix and Andy and they can do the machining and finishing. Border barrel will handle all paperwork like importation.

If thats the case I am going for a 02 barrels set.

I have just put my request in writing to LEE and he will try and get a price and answer before the weekend from Austria.

So who is interested please PM me and we will put an order together.

A K95 in 6mmBR or 6 x 47 lapua ..........
