In April as i was leaving Cameroon after my self guided hunt, i met a guy and his father from Denmark who were inbound on the same hunt. we shared a number of beers at the hotel and talked hunting. turns out he is an AR member. he asked if i had ever hunted in Europe and i replied that i would like to but it seemed rather expensive with uncertain trophies fees. he laughed and said that was mainly because American booking agents jacked up the prices and booked hunts for high end operations. if i was only interested in a fun hunt for representative trophies, he knew people all over Europe who could provide it at reasonable prices. we discussed red stag, mouflon, boar, roe deer, chamois etc and the average costs he mentioned were quite good. fast forward to several weeks ago and i got a PM from him inquiring if i was still interested in a hunt plus a visit to Denmark?? well of course i am. long story short we putting together a combo Denmark sightseeing trip( he will meet me in Copenhagen and we will go to his home on the NW coast for a visit), then drive to Poland(8-11 hours depending on where we hunt) and spend about a week hunting stag, roe deer and boar. the hunt is apparently with a local hunt club. basic accommodation but heavy in following the Polish hunting traditions- which is just what i want. i hope we are able to get everything arranged but it just goes to show you- you really can meet some nice people here tu2

JD you got that right.
I sometimes hunt in Czech Republic as I grew up there
Poland, Romania and some other eastern countries are on my list
Your friend from Denmark is right
You get some great deals if you are not looking for Top heads and its a hoot with locals
Pigs I enjoy probably the most, but everything else is fun as well

It can get ugly after the hunts as they ( locals) can drink excessively and so will you
My girlfriend loved it.
She was even court marshaled in hunters court after bird hunt, because she " wasn't heeding leader of the hunt instructions "
Cost me two bottles of Jagermeister to bail her out.
She thought it was the coolest thing.
One round I shot pheasant and she almost fought it like a NFL receiver.
Shit I thought I was gonna die
That would
Cost me twenty bottles for sure ouch

Good stuff. I love hunting in Czech.

Drinking a couple Sika dead . . . at 0900 Wink Every time we finished off a bottle of Jaegermeister, another fresh bottle 'mysteriously' appeared! They must have had a well stocked supply of Jaegermeister because we couldn't run 'em dry Cool
