I took the girl i'm keen on, out stalking this morning. She's shot a fair few red but never a fallow or a munty. Well two minutes into the stalk i spot a young munty buck, but decide to hold off as i was sure that a fox was going to be around the next corner. She was a bit dissapointed that i didnt want that one shot, but as the place i full of muntys i thought that another one would present itself later. Sure enough crossing one of the corners of the park is a nice buck. I gave a couple of barks on the buttolo and in he came, and came and came. He sprinted to within twenty yards of us, paused and dropped to a nice neck shot. Rather pleased that i had got her a reasonable buck, i was amazed to see the biggest muntjac i've seen on the deck. He has heavy antlers, perhaps just under 3 inches long, with two of the little brow tines on each antler, and heavy pearling. Tried to then find her a fallow as well, but of the 26 we saw, none were bucks. Although i have seen a good buck (body weight wise) out most evenings on a patch of bean stuble so i might be tempted to see if i cant get her that tonight. | ||
