Dear all

I have been working from home all week and took the opportunity to go for a walk over the fields and to have a plink out to 400 yards with my 6.5 Lap.

As I got near to where I set up I cam across this:

And so I followed these:

And then managed to nobble this fellow:

A nice sized dog. He was paired up with the vixen and they were hunting in the snow and mananged to nail a rabbit which I saw and was interesting. I only managed the dog though but might get chance to see if I can get the other later today.

Just one of those rare days in the UK where we get snow and sun! Just a very very enjoyable experience. I think the number of daytime foxes I have shot (I mean true daytime jobs as this was around 1pm) I can count on one hand. I would say a daytime fox is one of my favourite quarry species and near the top of the list.

Anyway hope you enjoy the pics.

Congratulation, good story and beautifull pics.
Beeing in the woods on days like these is something special.
One got the feeling that the spring are moving in ever so slowly, but still Smiler

I have not been out with the rifle since before Christmas, but have a couple of foxes I will try for now when the moon is full and with snow on the ground.

My days in the wood this last week have been with the chain saw and pick up truck cutting firewood for next winter.
With one inch of snow and frozen ground, I can go almost everywhere.
Temperatures around minus 8 centigrade, sun and no wind, beeing outdoors is just medicine for body and soul Big Grin

Well done Smiler

I love hunting foxes. And specially tracking them in the snow during the day.
I also love to hunt them skiing on snow during the night at full moon and hear the foxes howling and trying to get close enough for a shot.
I shot 11 foxes in the daytime during the my stalking for Roe deer before Xmas, and hopefully I will manage to shoot some more when the temps get higher closer to the spring
.
We have experienced minus 15 to minus 25 Celsius every day since new year now, so I have stayed inside the house instead of hunting.

Kiri hi

It was a re-barrel of my .22-250.

I must admit I am missing the ..22-250 for foxing.

Yes Griff does like his 6.5's as you know. I was seduced by the alleged inherent accuracy of one of these new fangle cartridge designations.

Actually I am v pleased I went down this route.

Best

Fox on ski's. That would be the ultimate. Sounds fantastic.

Hi Jon,

Great post, thanks. Must have been a lovely day!

It's been a while and I realise that I haven't updated you on my .300 win mag project.

It has taken longer than expected to decide on components, but they are all on their way now. Will update you as soon as I have something to take a picture of.

Regards,

Christian
