JAYB,

This last fall I spend two weeks stalking from the Cotswalds in England up to near Lairg. Only stalked for Sika in the highlands as I took a hill stag their in 97. I am sorry I didn't buy a pairt of breeks or plus 2's while I was there. You don't see them here in the states. I do know if I every go back to the UK for stalking I will have a pair. Are you near Tain?

Die Ou Jagter,

Take a look at the link JAYB posted in his early reply to me.

Those folks are selling tweed breeks at very reasonable prices. I am looking for a pair in cotton or moleskin rather than tweed, otherwise I would have bought some.

Anyways, they offer a mail order service and at the very least I would say send for their catalog and a sample switch of the cloth...

If you really fancy a pair and they don't do mail order to the Sates, let me know and I am sure we can get a pair sent over one way or another!

Regards,

Pete

...Here in Sweden, breeks are not widely used, so wearing them here is a statement of a sort.

And here they are called "knickers", which - if Im not quite out of me mind - is something quite different in English.

However,

those who wear breeks in Sweden also dress - this is common knowledge - in what the English call "knickers".

Die ou Jagter,

I live about twenty miles from Tain and about seven from Lairg. So how did you enjoy your hill stalking? any joy with the +2's, it is like Pete said I am sure there are plenty of places that would ship them to you.

If you ever think of coming back this way to hunt let me know, there is a local hotel run by an American couple and I have just stumbled on to some cheap woodland stalking for Roe, red and Sika which means all year round stalking, could even fit you up with a rifle.

Sorry to confuse. I didn't mean I couldn't buy Breeks in the states, just you don't see many wearing them. In fact you can purchase brushed cotton breeks from Kevins for $59.95. Their web side is www.kevinscatalog.com.

I stayed on Cambus Moure in 97 but hunted Tricity estate for my hill stag with Brian Green. I can't find my notes for this year but we stalked a property a abit south west of Lairg. The have a small hotel on the property. I only stalked for Sika this year. My hunting mate stalked on Cambus Moure for his Red. I would like to get to Tain on a week day to visit the Distrillery. 750ml of 18 yr is $86.00 here. I would like to stay in touch as it would be nice to return for more stalking.

It is indeed common knowledge that HerrBerg is very interested in what other men wear inside their trousers. I am however amazed that he never even for a moment appear to be ashamed about this interest...

...i think breeks/plus 2-4's are a marvelous adaptation (to kilts and trousers)...all of the comfort, flexibility and ease of shorts, but with the warmth of trousers...perfect with the use of wellies or any other boot for that matter...and if you follow the design trends, many of today's so-called 'cargo shorts' are nothing more than breeks with larger leg holes...

...thanks for the insight...i take it then that the field relevance of breeks vs. plus 2's vs. plus 4's has to do with weather conditions?...

...my moleskin/cord breeks are substantially thicker than your run of the mill trousers...
