Anyone shoot a Mauser 03?

I think I want a 03 Match. But I want to know more.

Is the tang safety a safety or a decocker?

Looks bolt mounted as opposed to tang mounted ala Sauer / early Ruger.

Nice looking and practical rifle - Im tempted myself........ if only they offered a stainless / synth option.

I have used the M03, mine was a 3006, I like the gun just the safety is a bit unconventional. I find the gun a bit heavy too, accuracy was excellent, the scope mount takes a bit of getting used too

They aren't cheap.

The Sig Arms website shows them for $3500 to start and top end $5000.

I have seen them in Spain for E1600, kind of BULLSHIT!

D99, I'm a bit uncertain what you seem to be upset about?? It sounds like you had expected a somewhat (or a lot) lower price on the M03 Jagdmatch, than what you have seen posted on the SigArms website. Is that a correct interpretation??

The list price in Switzerland for these guns (as listed in the Kettner catalog for 2005/2006) is CHF 3.175 (approx. Euro 2100, with 1Euro = 1.55 CHF) - if that is of any help?? The regular M03 (i.e no Jagdmatch) is listed at CHF 2.850. Naturally, as it is common in the Germanic part of Europe, you can add options at various price levels.

I looked at the link you provided above, and did indeed find 1 M03 listed at some 1890 Euro - including a Zeiss 8x56 scope. But looking at the link, it appears to be a selection of second hand rifles, and what is more the M03 is listed as sold, maybe because it was such a good deal?? In any event, the M03 listed was an 8x57IS with a short barrel and set trigger, and no Jagdmatch - assuming this is what you were looking for??

I don't know how much cheaper you can find your M03?? I should suspect some savings could be had? I can't make any comments about prices in other countries.

Does this in any way help you? (I should perhaps add, that I'm not selling Mausers or any other sort of guns).

Thanks Mike,

What makes me mad is that I have seen these 03 standard rifles for sale in Spain before I left NIB for E2200, and now SIG starts at $1500 higher.

I don't understand how a R93 could be cheaper in the states, and come from the same Isney factory as the 03, than in Europe, but an 03 is $1500 more in the states.

Can anyone explain that?

Hey - I've just encountered the RWS Titan range. Is this a switch barrel that you have considered?

D99 the RWS Titan gets a very good write up in this months Target Sports magazine. It looks reasonably well made, is a switch barrel of a similar design to Mauser 66 with two screws locking the barrel to the breach. Set trigger, three lug bolt and seems the atypical classic stalking rifle. Accuracy was sub MOA with factory loads. Price, I think around £700 for a deluxe version.

The price is E100 cheaper than a R93 Luxus.

If Sig has them for $3000 for the base model, $4000 for the next model and $5400 for the next model. The match is $3500.

Humble pie, how I love humble pie!
