keep your barrell clean and your powder dry
Well done Kiri and co. Those are some lovely pics.
I've been stalking and fishing in the Borders a couple of times each year for the past couple of years. We were there at end April/beginning May as well for 3 bucks over two days this year. Unfortunately no salmon to go with them.
Two of our bucks, although in completely hard antler, were still shedding the remains of the velvet. That was a couple of weeks later than usual. Past years they've all been completely clean by end April. Did you notice something similar?
All the best
cheers

Scott PowellI will be chasing them in Serbia next week and can't wait..:-)
That being said, I think the Scottish Highlands are a "must do" on my European hunt list!

Hey Stu. How is it going mate?
I can’t say that I’ve noticed or heard anything specific regarding the velvet to be honest but then I don’t get out as much as I used to these days!!
What we have seen is that the big bucks are clean early and then if the weather has been exceptionally hard then the buttons may hold onto it a bit longer but that’s not unusual.
Let me know next time you are over. It would be good to meet up again.

308mateI was one of the 3 guys on Kiri's ground last week, and I was lucky enough to take the big Buck in the photos.
Ive Known Kiri since he organised the original AR hunting weekends back in 2008/09 and I can honestly said this was the most enjoying stalking trip Ive ever been on!The ground in Scotland is simply stunning, although it isnt easy to stalk and you certainly won't be sitting in a boring old high seat but it is exceptionally rewarding when you do manage to take an animal. I can recommend this place enough! give Kiri a call and he will take good care of you!
